SOPHIA AMATO on The Sunday Lunch Show

My first  guest on this weeks show was the incredably talented singer songwriter Sophia Amato

Sophia who is based in South London, brought a refreshing mix of electronic soul and R&B to the phoenix fm studio and highlighted her songs for us on the show live.

Growing up listening to Lauryn Hill and Destiny’s Child Sophia is heavily inspired by lyrics and harmonies, combining this with her current playlist of James Blake, Jay Electronica and Sasha Keable the result is massive. Sophia is a pioneering female in the use of vocal looping as one of the first singers to layer up live using the Boss RC505 making an extremely cool sound.

She said;

“I love harmonies and using a loop pedal allows me to create beautiful, interesting chords without accompanying myself in the conventional way”

2014 has been a great year so far for Sophia kicking off with a duet with Laura Mvula featuring as a part of the Mastercard Idents for the Brit Awards.

Writing is in full flow now for the upcoming EP launch, and gigs and sessions are packed into her diary, so thanks again for taking some time out to pop on to the Sunday Lunch Show.

The Sophia Amato “AN ODE TO”  EP  is coming out this year.
