10/10/2013 – The Ends and Matthew Broadbent (Harper)

On Thursday I was delighted to have local band The Ends on my show. Originating from Canvey, the boys have become one of the most exciting bands on the local Essex scene, playing a wide variety of venues around the area.

Their energetic live shows, coupled with their upbeat, catchy songs, means that you will be dancing/singing along if you go to one of their gigs.

The band are a four piece, but unfortunately, bassist Liam could not make it down, so it was only three of them, Mike rushed down straight from an acoustic gig to his credit, and surprised us with a few live tracks.

I was also fortunate enough to have my good friend Matthew Broadbent, frontman of local band Harper, in the studio as well. Hopefully we will sort out for the band to come down and do a session for us sometime in the near future!

As for music on the show, I played another unsigned local band in the form of ‘Curse These Metal Hands’. Co-fronted by Matthews’ older brother, Robert Broadbent and Jack Herring, these are a band to watch out for! The two brothers have been gigging the two bands together, (not just for the fact they share a drummer) and they certainly blend well, with both bands packing a punch when it comes to the live shows.
