Great to be joined in the studio by Carol Finney to talk about World Mental Health Day.
Carol is a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist based in Brentwood. She explains what CBT Therapy is and how it works.

WHAT IS CBT?
CBT is an “NHS Recommended Therapy”, and is identified by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (www.nice.org.uk)) as one of the main therapies to assist with depression, anxiety, and stress.
CBT focuses on the effect our thoughts, have on our mood and behaviour.The sense we make of a situation is based on our upbringing, life experiences (both positive and negative) and our belief systems.
The training of a CBT psychotherapists, is focused on mental health and psychological problems.
There extensive and specialised training enables them to diagnose and treat those experiencing psychological difficulties problems. It is one of the most researched therapies that has been proven to decrease psychological difficulties.
The learning, insight and behaviour a person gains through therapy, can be implemented in their daily life to enable them to manage difficulties in a more helpful way.
