Tonight’s first Inspiring People show featured Mike Conyers, a local physiotherapist who has practised in the community for over thirty years. He is an active member of Brentwood Rotarians whom he has supported for a similar period. Last year he run the London Marathon to raise funds for his nominated charity.

More recently Mike undertook a parachute jump and is well known in the after dinner speakers circuit. Michael lost his sight in both eyes when he was 12 years old playing cricket, and is married with two grown up children.

The show also featured Martin Palmer from volunteering and learning charity Community Service Volunteers to talk about volunteering opportunities.

Inspiring People is a monthly show presented by Ben Lacey and Steve Dunstone.

Ben is a resident of Billericay who has spent 31 years with the Metropolitan Police. Now retired from the Met’s Firearms unit, Ben is a Master Practitioner in NLP, a qualified hypnotherapist, teacher of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and developer of Paradigmatic Coaching which is now used with one of the country’s leading police charities.

Ben has his own practice in Billericay where he is a partner within the Key2 Empowerment Partnership. Key2 trains therapists and counsellors in EFT and communication Skills. He also runs communication workshops around the country.

Ben is Founder of the Police Expeditions Club and over the years has been involved in projects in Mauritania, Europe and the Death Railway in Thailand. He is also a 2nd dan in Goju Ryu Karate and trains with the Essex Goju Ryu Karate clubs. And is partial to Belgian beer!

Steve Dunstone has been an Essex resident for over 20 years, and was a member of both the RAF and Metropolitan Police Royalty Protection unit for over 30 years. Steve also acts as a Security Consultant, Support worker and Steward at Lords Cricket Ground. Previous expeditions in Nigeria resulted in Steve being honoured as a Chief with the title of ‘Mabudi of Borgu Kingdom! He has traversed the Amazon River in 1997, the River Niger in 2004, cycled across Iceland in 2001 and trekked the death Railway in Thailand in 2000 – all raising awareness and/or funds for nominated charities.
