Tricia Sharp is carrying the Olympic Torch! Saving water interview and Exercise Health Feature

Monday 9th April:

Julia Smith and her husband created ‘The Perfect Memento,’ a unique service offered to Brentwood and Essex. ‘The Perfect Memento’ is an interactive video kiosk that you can hire out for big occasions such as parties, weddings and just all events you want to remember. People often want to remember great occasions but the pen and paper mementos book is getting a bit ‘out-of-date’ now and a lot of guests never fill them in anyway. The kiosk is different, its fast, easy and fun to use and creates a video and photo memento for the host of the celebration to remember their special way in a modern way. Tuesday 10th:

Health Feature of the Week: The Hip Flexors

These strong, powerful muscles are located at the front of the hip and are responsible for lifting you leg forwards. They are also involved in a lot of abdominal exercises and if they become over dominant, they can hinder core strength training and cause postural problems. This can actually make your abdominal appear more protruded and therefore give you a look of a small pregnancy bump! I have seen this happen in men and women alike. Thankfully there are various ways we can reduce the chance of this happening or alter our posture if it has already happened. Using a combination of stretches and training methods will be useful but today I recommend a daily stretch of your hip flexor, especially if you have spend long durations of time at a desk. One stretch for the hip flexors is detailed below:

 

1. For the kneeling hip flexor stretch, kneel on the right knee with toes down and left foot in front (knee bent and aligned with the ankle at 90-degrees). Place hands on left thigh and press hips forward until there’s tension in the front right hip. Hold for 30 seconds and switch legs.

Our local Olympic Torch carrier Tricia Sharp joined me in the studio to tell me all about what her role is going to involve. Tricia was awarded this privilege due to the enormous work she has done for the creation of the unique Trampoline centre up at Warley. Listen to our lively discussion and check out the website! They are holding a 24 hour bounce-a-thon on Friday 27th April starting at 4pm to raise money for the sensory therapy room they would like to create for those who would benefit in our local community and visiting to from further away. These strong, powerful muscles are located at the front of the hip and are responsible for lifting you leg forwards. They are also involved in a lot of abdominal exercises and if they become over dominant, they can hinder core strength training and cause postural problems. This can actually make your abdominal appear more protruded and therefore give you a look of a small pregnancy bump! I have seen this happen in men and women alike. Thankfully there are various ways we can reduce the chance of this happening or alter our posture if it has already happened.
