Drive Specials – Election 2011 & Misha Calvin

The last in a week of specials on Phoenix FM Drive was today peppered with reaction from the borough councillor elections in Brentwood last night. Ed Wellman and Steve Robertson were at the count at the Brentwood Centre and spoke to a number of candidates, who later in the night proved to be either successful in securing their seat or not as the case may be, and other dignitaries that were there.

We also started to see the first few results from the AV referendum trickle in during the second half of the show (the count started at 4pm). It was easy to see the pattern of the public’s views with an almost identical 2:1 ratio of no votes to yes for each area as they declared. Just after going off air we learned that the no voice was even more resounding in Brentwood where we had 19,381 to 6,177 for yes.

Also Live At Five tonight was Misha Calvin. Originally from Belgrade, his passion for music and indeed life was evident from the moment he stepped foot inside the studio. A very bubbly character with a very catchy tune which I likened to a cross between Paramore and Ultrabeat. His pals Lee and Fiona lend vocals to rework an old 1993 instrumental and give it a new lease of life. Misha hopes I can be the DJ that helps him break into the mainstream – have a listen back if you missed the interview so that you can give your opinion below.
