Hashtag United Women came from behind to lift the FAWNL Cup with a 2-1 victory over Newcastle United in a memorable day for the club.

Macie Nicholls cancelled out Malika Apinda’s own goal before Phoebe Williams’ strike with 18 minutes remaining ensured the Tags beat the FAWNL Northern Premier Division table-toppers.

With the game being held at Luton Town’s Kenilworth Road, Newcastle, a full-time outfit, were favourites having only lost one league game so far this term.

Jason Stephens’ side have also been flying this season following promotion from the fourth tier last season and currently sit in second place and five points off of Portsmouth in first place.

Hashtag are in the final of the BBC Essex Women’s Cup which takes place at the JobServe Community Stadium in April which would cap off a remarkable campaign at Parkside.
