NEWS THIS WEEK IN..
1981 – Phil Collins releases his first solo album Face Value which went to #1. It opened with his successful debut single “In the Air Tonight”. He went on to produce 8 studio albums, 1 live album and 3 compilation albums. Phil Collins’ has now retired due to ill health – his final ever live performance came on 26th March 2022 alongside his Genesis bandmates during the group’s final ever concert at London’s O2 Arena.

1983 – The Rolling Stones concert film Let’s Spend the Night Together opens in New York. It was filmed in the USA in late 1981 and features twenty-five songs performed by the band. Mick Jagger said that the film gives “a feel of what it’s like to be there”
