On this week’s show, we talk to Jamie Porter, who recently picked up the “Best Bowler” award at the Essex Cricket end of season dinner, for his 57-wicket haul in 2023. We talk about Essex going close in the County Championship and the T20 Blast and how Jamie himself seemed to find another gear this season. As well as talking about the bond between the players and the fans, we also talk snooker and set up a match!
Also on the show is David Griffin, familiar to cricket fans from his excellent Twitter/X account (@dgriffinpix) and former board member at Derbyshire CCC, now official club photographer. A brilliant chat, we cover a lot of ground, including the health of county cricket, the management of the game’s many formats and in Black History Month, David tells the story of Charles Olivierre, the first black West Indian to play county cricket in England, over a hundred years ago. We also find the truth about how he met his wife!!!
Plus all the latest news from the cricketing word, chat and music too!
Show first broadcast Thursday, 12th. October 2020 on Phoenix 98FM.
