Our Essex non-league sides have had to endure a busy schedule lately but here are their results from Easter Monday’s action.
Vanarama National League
Southend United were held to a 1-1 draw to fellow promotion hopefuls Woking. Jack Bridge’s second-half goal ensured the spoils were shared at The Laithwaite Community Stadium. Dagenham & Redbridge meanwhile fell to a 1-0 defeat to Chesterfield.
Vanarama National League South
Chelmsford City were unable to make it five consecutive wins as they lost 3-1 to Oxford City. Braintree Town secured a magnificent 3-2 win over already-promoted Ebbsfleet United, helped by a Chris Solly own goal and two from Alfie Pavey and Kryan Clements.
Concord Rangers came close to securing a draw with St. Albans City but Shaun Jeffers’ goal with minutes remaining ensured they lost 2-1.
Isthmian Premier Division
Hornchurch couldn’t mount the pressure on table-topping Bishop’s Stortford as they shared the spoils with Carshalton Athletic. The huge Essex derby between Canvey Island and Aveley was called off due to a failed pitch inspection after persistent rain.
Billericay Town’s played Bowers & Pitsea with the Blues running out as 3-2 victors, despite a late Bowers comeback.
Isthmian North Division
Hashtag United made a step closer to promotion with a 4-1 victory over Witham Town, courtesy of goals from Pedro Carvalho, Thomas Anderson, Lewis Watson and Jermaine Francis. Heybridge Swifts beat Great Wakering Rovers 2-0 and Grays Athletic were victorious against East Thurrock United in a 1-0 win.
