This there month is shaping up to be an oddity of music things, or should I say news & decisions. If you aren’t aware I’m a long-time fan of Basildon band Depeche Mode, and this month we had a haphazard press launch type chat thing; which I couldn’t face, as it looked and to me, was so shoddy for the poor guys. Nonetheless, Dave Gahan and Martin Gore looked in good shape and the welcomed news of a new album with a world tour did us all justice after getting used to losing the late great hand-clapping co-founder, Andy Fletcher. Feeling naughty, I debuted a special mix of a possible new song they teased us with on the press launch, it was a snippet remix taken from the teaser snippet that soundtracked the press launch, which cleverly was made into a cheeky full track. I’m not sure if Depeche Mode or Columbia records approved or even welcomed this brilliant fan-made remix of an unreleased song, but as the creator of this mix [Dominatrix] said roughly, “I think they just seem to tolerate my work”. To me the snippet track has a New Order vibe about it, and positively feels like a bit of classic mode, so who knows what the actual album Momento Mori will deliver to us. I can tell you, one thing I cannot seem to grasp as we go into good old Spooky October, is the Depeche Mode tour ticket prices, because at some of the announced world venues the prices are truly scary.
On my chatbit, I asked about gig ticket prices and asked what was the most expensive you had paid and what was the cheapest, in relation to known artists.
I can grasp, however, the wonderful new tracks we had this week, from Main – Neon Radiation – Depeche Mode – Zero Corporation and Audionuts – Lifelong Corporation – Tenedle – Woodrowgerber – Bending Grid, plus a few remixes and top artists.
