This week’s show was another mixture of old hits & misses, from artists within our “Off The Record” circle of trust.
We managed to play a record from Elvis Costello’s shrinking back catalogue. A record by Hazel O’Conner that wasn’t from the film Breaking Glass. We also gave a rare radio play to a hidden gem from Dexy’s Midnight Runners. Used irony to link a couple of classic tracks to the Andrew, formally known as Prince. Plus, tracks from The Divine Comedy and Mezzoforte were both as subtle as a brick, although some will say the Mezzoforte track was called Work Event.
We remembered the film Stardust, the harmonies of Glenn Frey, and quizzed you on lyrics on a song taken from both peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro. Brian Moore gave you a clue as to which year The Pretenders beat Arsenal 1-0 to win the FA Cup. Then we ended our show with a record that’s 83 years old. Proving our show really does have its finger on the pulse, albeit a rather slow and weak one.
