PHOENIX SPORT 30/1/21

A disappointing Saturday for Leyton Orient, who are still in 10th place in EFL League Two but slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Bolton Wanderers. On the plus side I was pleased to be joined on the phone for the first time by ex-O’s midfielder Barry Lakin, who is now part of the team on our show the Orient Hour and who provided us with his thoughts on the match after the final whistle.

And it was a throughly dismal afternoon for Southend United, who crashed to a 5-1 defeat away to Port Vale and remain at the foot of the table.

But in the National League Dagenham & Redbridge managed a point from their match at home to in-form Chesterfield, goals from Scott Wilson and Sam Deering gaining the Daggers a 2-2 draw at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.

I also followed an enthralling Snooker contest in the first semi-final of the German Masters, where Judd Trump staged an incredible comeback against Barry Hawkins, who had led 5-1 at one stage. But Trump refused to throw in the towel and after some amazing breaks and shots, went on to win by six frames to five and reach the final.
