Prokit uk Essex Olympian League – Saturday 27th April Round-Up

Premier Division

Kelvedon Hatch secured the runners-up position after a securing the required points at Catholic United in midweek. They won’t be adding any further points to the boars as they finished their season on Saturday against Buckhurst Hill. The vistors already had the Premier Division title sewn up but that didn’t stop them running out 4-1 winners with Steve Townsend’s brace being added to by goals from Kenton Moore and Eren Muti.

Division One

John Gilroy has blown the Division One promotion race wide open as all four of the goals he scored in FC Hamlets 4-1 win over Basildon Town not only moves them into second but also blows Basildon Town’s title hopes straight out the water. Basildon have three games left to play but can’t now overtake Shenfield AFC who will end the season as Division One champions. While the title is no longer up for grabs, the final promotion spot is and if FC Hamlets win their final game against May & Baker E.C. Res. then it means that Basildon Town will need to win their remaining three games if they want to make a quick return to the Premier Division.

Division Two

Chingford Athletic are the Division Two champions after an emphatic victory over May & Baker E.C. ‘A’ which saw them take the title on goal difference. Chingford went into the game with a better goal difference anyway, but had to win their final game of the season; they certainly achieved that as they went on to win 21-0 with Gary Murray hitting the target on eight occasions.

Division Three

Academy Soccer ended their campaign with a 4-1 win at Basildon Town Res. Ben Picton and Dom Cooper placed Academy into a 2-0 half time lead. That was added to by a Marc Porter Brown effort, before Luis Ruiz closed the show with a worldly that crashed into the corner of the net. Unfortunately the win wasn’t enough to secure promotion, finishing third. Laindon Orient currently sit second, but Westhamians can take the one remaining promotional spot still available if they win their final game.
