Senior League Cup
Frenford reached the Final of the Senior League Cup without having to kick a ball in their Semi Final against Newham United. Their opponents were unable to fulfil the fixture allowing the Premier Division leaders a safe passage into the Final. They will meet either Leigh Ramblers or Kelvedon Hatch who set-up their Semi Final pairing after coming through their Quarter Final engagements on Saturday. Kelvedon Hatch picked up a nap hand against Great Baddow with George Saunders and Anthony Aylett both scoring braces alongside a Chris Neville effort in their 5-0 success. Leigh Ramblers beat Bishop’s Stortford Swifts 2-1 courtesy of goals from Seb Allen and Ryan Lowe, which cancelled out Josh Daniel’s goal for Swifts.
Premier Division
May & Baker E.C. failed to close the gap on Frenford’s lead after suffering a 2-1 reverse at Harold Wood Athletic. Matthew Donovan and Charlie Liddiard were their scorers, cancelling out James Barlow’s goal for May & Baker. Catholic United picked up a 4-0 win over Basildon Town which moves them up to fourth, whilst leaving Basildon Town perilously close to the drop. Rayleigh Town are still now free from relegation themselves after suffering a 3-0 home defeat to Springfield. The defending champions saw Joe Mayer score twice with Josh White providing the other goal which moves them up to second. Manford Way recorded a 2-1 win over White Ensign.
Division One
Leaders Buckhurst Hill made it thirteen league wins on the bounce after they turned over local rivals Sungate 6-0. Hutton eked out a slender 1-0 win at FC Hamlets which sees them close the gap on second-placed Great Baddow to three points. Chris Rowlatt scored the Hutton goal which keeps their promotion hopes very much alive. Galleywood remain in the drop zone despite a 3-2 win over Newbury Forest. Jack Chatterway, Lewis Rose and Matthew Buckingham scored the goals that see them close the gap on Newbury Forest to a mere point. Matt Connolly and Scott Emmons scored the Newbury Forest goals who now sit just above Galleywood in the table but have games in hand. Owen Dunn scored with a great left footed finish but his Old Southendian side lost 3-1 at Shenfield AFC. The hosts scored their goals via a Will Marlowe brace alongside a Francis Wright effort. Harold Hill and Snaresbrook share a point each after their game ended in a goalless draw.
Division Two
May & Baker E.C. Res. closed the gap on Herongate Athletic to six points after a 5-1 victory at Rochford Town. Carl Patten scored a hat-trick with Kane Messenger and Darren Seymour also contributing. May & Baker have three games in hand on Herongate Athletic but this win almost sees them over the line as for as booking a promotion spot is concerned. Benfleet are also aiming for promotion and they registered a 5-0 win over A1 Sports which keeps those hopes alive. Ben Foord’s brace was added to by goals from Tyler Hubbard, Sonny Hartman and Brad Camm.
Division Three
The top two faced-off on Saturday with second-placed Shoebury Town securing a 3-2 win at leaders Manford Way Res. which blows the Division Three title race wide open as only two points now separating the top two. Dom Binns (2) and Scott Clarke were the Shoebury marksmen. Wesley Penny and Connor Ellis were the Roydon scorers in a 2-1 away win at Hutton Res; Frenford Res also won on the road as a Nick Hughes brace plus a goal from Tommy Weymouth saw them overcome Leigh Town 3-2. The hosts’ goals were scored by Alfie Phillips and Barv Waikwaiku. Martin Mixture and Jonathan Kemp were the Old Chelmsfordians Res. scorers in a 2-2 draw with Beacon Hill Rovers.
