It is always an honor to be asked to host an event in your home town, and this year it was no exception as once again phoenix fm played host to the biggest event on the town calender with the lighting up of Brentwood.
I was joined on stage by Drive time presenter Mikey Porter for a fun filled day of entertainment on the main stage.
here is a run down on the acts that were on the main stage along with some photos;
Lydia Lucy appeared on the mighty X Factor, since then she has grown from strength to strength, No stranger to Brentwood as she also appeared at this year`s Brentwood Festival, and some of our Phoenix fm gigs. A remarkable young lady
Sparkle Dance & Fitness offer a range of dance and fitness classes for all ages.
With a fun and friendly approach each class caters equally for those that want to come along and take part for fun as well as those keen to dedicate themselves to learning performance skills.
Dreams Theatre School was established in January 2004 opening its first theatre school in Romford, Essex. Today they have branches in Romford, Shenfield and Chelmsford.
There classes give children of all ages the opportunity to learn and perform in dance, drama, musical theatre and singing, whilst successfully merging and maintaining fun alongside great learning, whatever their ability or talent.
Sweet Harmonie Inspired by the medieval babes of yester year `sweet Harmonie` Led and formed by Nikki Randell are a vocal group based in Rainham. The group which were formed in1998 sing traditional Tudor /medieval songs from the 1300-1600 modal and barok music, a lot of this music would have originally been done in Latin.
Theatre Train Is a part time & weekend Stage School for kids. For over 20 years they have pioneered an exciting approach to stage and theatre school education in the performing arts for young people aged 6-18.
They teach kids how to dance, act and sing in performing arts classes at centres throughout the UK.
Creating outstanding opportunities for pupils to perform on stage in local, regional and famous West End venues
Big Sing A community choir based all over London, Essex and Kent and quite recently here in Brentwood, with choirs in section`s inc;
Big sing, Teen Sing, Little sing, Tiny Sing
Big Sing corporate big sing pro, Big sing schools, you get the jist
Hogarth School A fantastic traditional School choir, back again this year to sing traditional carols with ages from 6-16.
Echo Band. ECHO are a 7 piece band of experienced musicians and singers with a heart for reaching
out to those outside the church.
They released their fi r s t a l b u m , titled ‘Bought Not Souled’ on Plankton Records
early this year.
The Band plays a mix of Motown and old soul, but have adapted the words to become songs of worship, They have found this successful in crossing cultural and religious boundaries – everyone likes a bit of a groove after all!
Royal British Legion Band Brentwood
One of the highlights of LUB
The Royal British Legion Youth Band Brentwood celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2015. Transformed into the Military Band you see today it has been modelled on a British Army Regimental Band and currently consists of 60 to 80 members with ages ranging from 10 to 25.
The band is affiliated to the 49th (West Riding) Infantry Division Polar Bear Association and proudly wears the Polar Bear insignia on their uniform.
Rock Choir The Brentwood Rock Choir is led by local musician Andrew Small. The local men and women who have joined the choir and live in Brentwood and further afield in Essex come from all walks of life and most had little or no singing experience yet though their singing the journey takes them on TV, Radio and big stages like LUB
The Princess and the Party
‘The Princess and the Party’ provide Musical Theatre trained actresses who are dedicated to bringing the magic of a ‘real life’ Princess to children’s party`s.
As trained singers and dancers the company brings that extra bit of magic to parties by performing popular songs from all your favourite Princess stories,
Party guests are taken on a magical journey through their favourite Princess’ fairy tale, helping to re-enact the story through imagination and role play.
Churches Together, The clue is in the name Churches from around Brentwood Area come together to form the organisation `churches Together` who work around the town and surrounding area`s they also meet up with their parishioners to form a choir, the choir performed here last year and where truly remarkable.
The Switch on was performed at 5pm by; Postman pat and The May0r of Brentwood Vickie Davis, also the winner of the Mayor`s Christmas card compitition Jess Painter
Sweet Chix (BGT)
Formally known as SweetCheeks, a vocal girlband of 5 teenage girl’s age 14-16 years who love to sing and perform. Formed in 2010 the have performed in Essex Factor,
And TeenStar UK Mid-Teen Winners 2013
Essex Entertainment Awards, Best Breakthrough Youth Act 2013
And more recently this year’s Britain’s Got Talent
Brewster Club A London Based function Band closed the show with cover greats such as the Beatles, Jackson 5, Amy Winehouse, Madness and many more.
