Barry Hearn – talking about Saint Francis Hospice’s Golf Day and much more

We welcomed sports promoter Barry Hearn into the Phoenix FM studios today to chat about the Saint Francis Hospice Autumn Golf Day.

2014-09-10 Barry Hearn with Michelle Ward

Brentwood-based Barry is well known for his work in organising snooker, darts and boxing competitions worldwide but he’s also a strong supporter of our local hospice’s annual golf day, which takes place this year on Thursday 25th September at Abridge Golf and Country Club, Stapleford Tawney.

Michelle spoke to him about the event and also his work in promoting sport, which could have taken up a whole show on his own. And might well do one day soon!

Barry and his company Matchroom Sport sponsors the event and golfers can enjoy an 18-hole round of golf, breakfast, three course dinner and auction. Phoenix FM DJ and occasional snooker player Steve Davis is a regular at the events too.

Places at the golf day are £95 per person, which also includes free annual membership to TheSocialGolfer.com and guests can come to the evening meal for £25. There is a chance for businesses and organisations to raise their profile by sponsoring a hole for £50 each. To book a place at the golf day or sponsor a hole email fundraising@sfh.org.uk or call 01708 771405.
