Welcome to the last show page blog of the year, and what a year it has been for guests on the show, the station itself had over 200+ live sessions.

For the last show (Sunday 29th Dec) we re-caped some of my favourites artist`s and bands from the last 12 months

 Mannequins

Sunday Lunch show regulars the Mannequins were my first guest`s of the year and kicked of the show by bringing me a copy of their new album that was out on the 18th January.

The band then still a 3 piece have been regulars to the studio for several years and Lee the lead singer songwriter was keen to showcase some of his new material live on the show take a listen to this live version of `So High`   Mannequins So High_0

Kit Rice

In February I was joined in the studio by the extremely talented Kit Rice along with Joe Acres on acoustic guitar.

Though starting his musical journey as a classical violinist, Kit soon discovered his passion and talent for singing and song writing.

In 2010, he graduated from the BRIT School after four years. Kit immediately embarked on a string of UK and European tours playing the violin with Brentwood folk-pop songstress Leddra Chapman, and has supported acts such as Tom Jones, Ed Sheeran and Toploader.

 

James Robb

In March My guest was another young singer song writer James Robb  Fresh from his appearance and live set at the Phoenix FM in the foyer gig on the Saturday 9th,

James who is still only 20 years of age was currently working on his debut album and played one of his tracks live in the studio..This is `We All Try`   01 We All Try (Remix)

 

Navacross

In march I was also joined on the show by the band Navacross

NavaCross have been on the scene for a number of years, performing at many venues and festivals across the South East

Their album at the time released via Hi4Head records, is available in Rough Trade Records,  HMV(R.I.P), and other good record shops, and music sites

Their new Album All the way Home is out now it was released on the 19th of January. And the band played some of their tracks live and exclusive for Sunday Lunch…the first track is `Black Crow` followed by…… `Get me otta of here`  Navacross Black Crow_0   navacross `get me otta here`_0

Distrct 3

A busy April weekend in the studio (Sunday the 17th)  as the Brentwood Centre played host to the Essex indoor festival, whilst presenting the first hour and  awaiting the arrival of my guest HAVVA, I was joined by a surprise visit from xfactor boy band district3

The boys joined me in the studio for a quick chat before they went onto the main stage, and it was also Dan`s Birthday.

District3 had announced plans to embark on a headline tour of the UK later in the week.
The boy band played four dates across the country following their current stint on the X Factor finalists’ arena tour. The new single followed shortly after.

Havva

My second guest in the studio that week was the talented singer songwriter HAVVA.

Havva is a sensational new urban artist hoping to be the next big hitting female in the UK.

Her dynamic, soulful voice enables a variety of audiences to appreciate and enjoy her vocal ability, reminiscent of the classic soul legends combined with the newest RnB sounds. She has the capability of using clever word play techniques to display no boundaries of expression within her songs. Her lyrics portray an affluent understanding of deep emotions, which captivates her audience.

Along with being extremely talented with fantastic vocal`s Havva was also gorgeous and funny,  to tracks from her on the blog, first track `Bittersweet`  and also `Settle Down`   Havva – Bitter Sweet – Main Mix (Mastered)   Havva Settle Down_0 – Copy

Velvet Tree/Funky Voices

April also saw visits from; Velvet tree Straight from their recording session on the stage of 2013 Phoenix FM`s Creative Session, they didn’t play live as the time restraints from the recorded session, But will be on the show January 2014.

That same day the choir Funky Voices popped into the show and preformed live, yes all 60 of them in the studio, I think it is a phoenix record certainly a show record.

Calico

My final Guests on that weeks Sunday Lunch Show was CaLiCo they joined me in Studio 1 straight also from the Phoenix FM’s creative sessions.

The Band is from Basildon and describes their music, as well, Rock, Alternative, Punk, Ska,

The Mannequins also popped back on the show in April I said they were regular

 

Kyle Parry

The following week it was May and for the first guest of the month I was joined in the studio by singer songwriter Kyle Parry who describes his music as light indie rock

Kyle is a singer/songwriter from Wales. His music is a mix of his influences – Stereophonics, Squeeze, Michael Jackson etc. Kyle has performed at Welsh festivals like “Head Stock” and “Party in the Parc”, amongst others. He has also performed in Liverpool “Cavern” and “Zanzibar”, and “The Hard Rock Cafe” in London. In February 2012, Kyle was the support for the opening of Matt Cardle’s UK Tour. Kyle was finishing off his debut album “Late nights and early mornings” which was released on 4th May 2013.

Kyle who is  from North Wales was down in England for a series of gigs in and around London, and took time from his busy schedule to pop into the show for a chat and some live tracks from his upcoming new album…. here is his live studio track. `Fear`   Kyle Parry `fear`_0

 

Ellamore

I need a break from all the male singers on the show so for the first weekend`s show (Sunday 2nd June), I welcomed to phoenix FM’s studio 1, three beautiful young ladies and talented singer songwriters that are the girl band `Ellamore`

They described their music as Vintage pop with 60`s retro Motown influences,  and build upon success stories from artists such as Bruno Mars, they currently  have an EP out that is entitled` Ellamore Sings` that has 3 fabulous tracks, and are hoping to release a debut album shortly

As always on the show we had a fun light hearted chat on the bands musical journey before settling down to some fantastic track plays from their EP, and were also treated to 2 very special acapella covers. So first up is `Don’t Let Go`  Ellamore dont let go_0  followed by `Mama Knows Best`  Mama knows best Ellamore_0

 

TigerLilly

For the second week in June I was joined in the studio by the talented singer songwriter Tiger Lilly

Winner of ‘Best out of Area Act’ Exposure Music Awards East 2010 and one of the most exciting independent artists in the UK. With two albums out on iTunes, her own clothing line on ASOS and 3 UK tours behind her, playing over 100 UK venues including legendary venues such as the 100 Club on Oxford Street and the Hard Rock Café London, Tiger Lilly is one of the most exciting independent artists in the UK right now.

She is a quirky British pop/rock artist from the suburbs of London with Persian roots has a unique voice and distinctive sound and had just released a free downloadable EP titled ‘Revolving Doors’ of which. Here are 2 tracks… `Walk a Mile`  tigerlilly walk a mile_0  and `Silence is Golden` Silence Is Golden 260kbps variable

 

 

Elane Blane

Sunday 23rd June  I was joined in studio 1 by up-coming singer Ellen Blane
Ellen is an amazing talented 15-year-old singer/songwriter.

Ellen Blane is a very skilled songwriter and has the ability to take real life situations and put it in to lyrics in a song. Ellen also writes all her own material and has also helped write for other artists, and at such a young age.

Ellen has won mass amounts of competitions and is still going strong.
She has performed at Hackney Empire alongside the likes of C Cane and Jermaine Jackman. She has also been put through to perform at a showcase in Camden teen stars.

She is working on all her own material and had got gigs around London when she took a detour to pop onto the show, she has been getting a lot of recognition by different PR’s and different A&R’s.

She will be releasing her material later on in the year. Here is one of the tracks she played live on the show called  `Sunset`  ellan blane sunset_0

 

Mr Arch

A sunny 21st July and I was joined on the show by upcoming hip hop star Mr Arch.

You may well remember the name! that is because he rapped on another of the show`s guests track `Catch me if you Can` by R&B s singer Rajiv another show regular who was on the show back in 2012. This was his debut single called…….Run Boy Run   mr arch run boy run_0

 

Jonny Winston

Sunday 28th July I was joined in the studio by the wonderfully talented singer songwriter Jonny Winston.
Jonny only got down to business song writing and performing seriously a year and a half ago! And instantly started making heads turn. With new forms of electronic music on the rise and more and more producers looking for unique voices and topline writing talent all it took was one song to open the floodgates. What started out as “good times” with mates eventually led to additional collaborations, compilations and a publishing deal with Phoenix Music International (no relation lol).

Now based in London, and having since popped back to the show quite recently ,  Jonny found time to pop into the show and showcase his new sounds, this Live track is called `Flatline`  jonny winston flat line_0

Followed by a cover of No Diggity   no diggity_Jonny winston

 

Melody and the Boytoys

August brought not only the sunshine on what was a long summer for a change but also some fun in to the studio as I was joined on the show by Melody & Bonnie Freechyld whom had collaborated with the band Boytoys for their new track.

Melody described on twitter as

Bombastic obsessed with food and write songs for pop tarts..

Is a singer, songwriter and promoter who has supported Mich Winehouse and D-Ream (you’re the best thing)

Whilst Bonnie Freechyld who has also worked with Mich Winehouse and Omar, and has over half a million YouTube hits from a connection with the maylay language! Also has a separate pop career.

Milla Falls

It’s always great to welcome  previous guests back onto the show, so on the  (29th Sept) I was excited to be joined by Mila Falls, and  I was particularly excited as not only am I a big fan of her music, I have also been watching her career go from strength to strength over the past year. I predict big things for this young lady in 2014

Tara Prya

(Sunday 13th Oct) it was my pleasure to welcome to the Phoenix fm studio and Sunday Lunch Show singer songwriter `Tara Priya’

Tara who is originates from San Francisco in the USA was over in the UK to write and record her new album, and release it with a major record label.

Tara Priya combines vintage soul, poetic lyrics, and a dash of pop to provide relief from today’s Auto-Tune avalanche. Sweet and sour, lovely and lovelorn, the retro-soul “jewel” (Access!) is a story as distinctive as her sound.

Tara performed several live acoustic tracks on the show here are two of my favourites both live in the studio `Rollin`  Tara Pryia Rollin_0  and `Mr Infidelity` Tara Pryia Mr Infidelety_0

 

For the rest of sept, Oct and the start of November I had the return of Mannequins, Jonny Winston, Tigerlilly.

 

For the second week in November another live double, first up was reformed group Avelyn that used to be called yesterdays sorrow, the band came in with a copy of their new album and chatted about their plans for this coming year.

Cielo

For my second live band of the day (10th Nov) I was excited to welcome on to the show Norwich based band CIELO

Cielo are a five piece urban pop/funk band. Originating from Norwich who are consistently selling out venues across their local region. Their sounds have influences from Jazz, Hip-Hop, Blues, Latin & Flamenco, Swing, Rock n Roll however they incorporate these sounds in a commercial nature.

Highlights for the group so far include supporting Ash, Feeder and Roots Manuva  at PLAYFEST  festival last year, headlining the soapbox stage at Folk East w/ Seth Lakeman & Bellowhead and of course playing live on the Sunday lunch show

Look Twice

On the Sunday Lunch Show (17th Nov 2013) were `Look 2wice`

Look 2wice is a duo from Southend, Consisting of Jamie Levy and Ricci Turner. The genre of music is hard to pinpoint exactly but has been listed more as a hip-hop pop twist with a touch of R’n’B.

They have currently been working on their debut album `Never Forgotten` and have a debut single titled Rush which is OUT NOW!  Here is a live studio version off their track  `Back Down`  Back Down – Mastered (look2wice)

 

Elles Bailly

A Chilly 24th Nov 2013 and I welcomed to the Sunday Lunch Show the multi talented singer songwriter Elles Baily.

Elles who is currently in process of recording her new album took time out from a weekend of gigs in London to drop by the phoenix FM studio to a chat and sing an exclusive live set for us on the show.

Elles who hails from Bristol has been playing keyboard, song writing and recording for the last nine years, and has fronted well known local Indie bands supporting  Sugababes, Scouting for Girls and other similar acts.

Elles is currently working on her fourth Album produced and co written by Brian Banks who worked with MJ.. Here are the live Studio tracks `Howling wolf` Howlin Wolf and `Dyeing Age` Dying Age

 

Pete Brame

This week (8th Dec) I had the pleasure in welcoming on to the show 2 unique guests, actor Eddie webber was in the studio. And also former BBC Fame Academy singer songwriter Pete Brame.

Pete a singer-songwriter, from Colchester, who once dated radio DJ Fearne Cotton, has returned to the music scene and is in the process of writing new tracks for his debut album.

Peter- first gained musical recognition for his performances on BBC reality TV show Fame Academy in 2003 when he finished fourth and took time out from his busy schedule to pop onto the Phoenix FM studios to chat and play some of his new material live on the Show.

On that same day I also had the pleasure of interviewing Actor and Director Eddie Webber whom had just completed a new pilot series `power to the people` with Geoff Bell, and Danny Dyer, and many other big named stars, the series is being put to several main TV companies so we hope to see it on one of the big 5 in 2014.

 

And my final guest for the year was a phone interview with lead singer Nigel Clarke from 90s pop band sensation Dodgy, who joined me via phone to chat about their new charity Christmas single `Christmas at the Foodbank` you can listen again to the interview by clicking the audio tab.Nigel from the Band Dodgy_0

Look Twice

On the Sunday Lunch Show (17th Nov 2013) were `Look 2wice`

Look 2wice is a duo from Southend, Consisting of Jamie Levy and Ricci Turner. The genre of music is hard to pinpoint exactly but has been listed more as a hip-hop pop twist with a touch of R’n’B.

They have currently been working on their debut album `Never Forgotten` and have a debut single titled Rush which is OUT NOW!  Here is a live studio version off their track  `Back Down`  Back Down – Mastered (look2wice)

 

Elles Bailly

A Chilly 24th Nov 2013 and I welcomed to the Sunday Lunch Show the multi talented singer songwriter Elles Baily.

Elles who is currently in process of recording her new album took time out from a weekend of gigs in London to drop by the phoenix FM studio to a chat and sing an exclusive live set for us on the show.

Elles who hails from Bristol has been playing keyboard, song writing and recording for the last nine years, and has fronted well known local Indie bands supporting  Sugababes, Scouting for Girls and other similar acts.

Elles is currently working on her fourth Album produced and co written by Brian Banks who worked with MJ.. Here are the live Studio tracks `Howling wolf` Howlin Wolf and `Dyeing Age` Dying Age

 

Pete Brame

This week (8th Dec) I had the pleasure in welcoming on to the show 2 unique guests, actor Eddie webber was in the studio. And also former BBC Fame Academy singer songwriter Pete Brame.

Pete a singer-songwriter, from Colchester, who once dated radio DJ Fearne Cotton, has returned to the music scene and is in the process of writing new tracks for his debut album.

Peter- first gained musical recognition for his performances on BBC reality TV show Fame Academy in 2003 when he finished fourth and took time out from his busy schedule to pop onto the Phoenix FM studios to chat and play some of his new material live on the Show.

On that same day I also had the pleasure of interviewing Actor and Director Eddie Webber whom had just completed a new pilot series `power to the people` with Geoff Bell, and Danny Dyer, and many other big named stars, the series is being put to several main TV companies so we hope to see it on one of the big 5 in 2014.

 

And my final guest for the year was a phone interview with lead singer Nigel Clarke from 90s pop band sensation Dodgy, who joined me via phone to chat about their new charity Christmas single `Christmas at the Foodbank` you can listen again to the interview by clicking the audio tab.Nigel from the Band Dodgy_0

Welcome to the last show page blog of the year, and what a year it has been for guests on the show, the station itself had over 200+ live sessions.

For the last show (Sunday 29th Dec) we re-caped some of my favourites artist`s and bands from the last 12 months

 Mannequins

Sunday Lunch show regulars the Mannequins were my first guest`s of the year and kicked of the show by bringing me a copy of their new album that was out on the 18th January.

The band then still a 3 piece have been regulars to the studio for several years and Lee the lead singer songwriter was keen to showcase some of his new material live on the show take a listen to this live version of `So High`   Mannequins So High_0

Kit Rice

In February I was joined in the studio by the extremely talented Kit Rice along with Joe Acres on acoustic guitar.

Though starting his musical journey as a classical violinist, Kit soon discovered his passion and talent for singing and song writing.

In 2010, he graduated from the BRIT School after four years. Kit immediately embarked on a string of UK and European tours playing the violin with Brentwood folk-pop songstress Leddra Chapman, and has supported acts such as Tom Jones, Ed Sheeran and Toploader.

 

James Robb

In March My guest was another young singer song writer James Robb  Fresh from his appearance and live set at the Phoenix FM in the foyer gig on the Saturday 9th,

James who is still only 20 years of age was currently working on his debut album and played one of his tracks live in the studio..This is `We All Try`   01 We All Try (Remix)

 

Navacross

In march I was also joined on the show by the band Navacross

NavaCross have been on the scene for a number of years, performing at many venues and festivals across the South East

Their album at the time released via Hi4Head records, is available in Rough Trade Records,  HMV(R.I.P), and other good record shops, and music sites

Their new Album All the way Home is out now it was released on the 19th of January. And the band played some of their tracks live and exclusive for Sunday Lunch…the first track is `Black Crow` followed by…… `Get me otta of here`  Navacross Black Crow_0   navacross `get me otta here`_0

Distrct 3

A busy April weekend in the studio (Sunday the 17th)  as the Brentwood Centre played host to the Essex indoor festival, whilst presenting the first hour and  awaiting the arrival of my guest HAVVA, I was joined by a surprise visit from xfactor boy band district3

The boys joined me in the studio for a quick chat before they went onto the main stage, and it was also Dan`s Birthday.

District3 had announced plans to embark on a headline tour of the UK later in the week.
The boy band played four dates across the country following their current stint on the X Factor finalists’ arena tour. The new single followed shortly after.

Havva

My second guest in the studio that week was the talented singer songwriter HAVVA.

Havva is a sensational new urban artist hoping to be the next big hitting female in the UK.

Her dynamic, soulful voice enables a variety of audiences to appreciate and enjoy her vocal ability, reminiscent of the classic soul legends combined with the newest RnB sounds. She has the capability of using clever word play techniques to display no boundaries of expression within her songs. Her lyrics portray an affluent understanding of deep emotions, which captivates her audience.

Along with being extremely talented with fantastic vocal`s Havva was also gorgeous and funny,  to tracks from her on the blog, first track `Bittersweet`  and also `Settle Down`   Havva – Bitter Sweet – Main Mix (Mastered)   Havva Settle Down_0 – Copy

Velvet Tree/Funky Voices

April also saw visits from; Velvet tree Straight from their recording session on the stage of 2013 Phoenix FM`s Creative Session, they didn’t play live as the time restraints from the recorded session, But will be on the show January 2014.

That same day the choir Funky Voices popped into the show and preformed live, yes all 60 of them in the studio, I think it is a phoenix record certainly a show record.

Calico

My final Guests on that weeks Sunday Lunch Show was CaLiCo they joined me in Studio 1 straight also from the Phoenix FM’s creative sessions.

The Band is from Basildon and describes their music, as well, Rock, Alternative, Punk, Ska,

The Mannequins also popped back on the show in April I said they were regular

 

Kyle Parry

The following week it was May and for the first guest of the month I was joined in the studio by singer songwriter Kyle Parry who describes his music as light indie rock

Kyle is a singer/songwriter from Wales. His music is a mix of his influences – Stereophonics, Squeeze, Michael Jackson etc. Kyle has performed at Welsh festivals like “Head Stock” and “Party in the Parc”, amongst others. He has also performed in Liverpool “Cavern” and “Zanzibar”, and “The Hard Rock Cafe” in London. In February 2012, Kyle was the support for the opening of Matt Cardle’s UK Tour. Kyle was finishing off his debut album “Late nights and early mornings” which was released on 4th May 2013.

Kyle who is  from North Wales was down in England for a series of gigs in and around London, and took time from his busy schedule to pop into the show for a chat and some live tracks from his upcoming new album…. here is his live studio track. `Fear`   Kyle Parry `fear`_0

 

Ellamore

I need a break from all the male singers on the show so for the first weekend`s show (Sunday 2nd June), I welcomed to phoenix FM’s studio 1, three beautiful young ladies and talented singer songwriters that are the girl band `Ellamore`

They described their music as Vintage pop with 60`s retro Motown influences,  and build upon success stories from artists such as Bruno Mars, they currently  have an EP out that is entitled` Ellamore Sings` that has 3 fabulous tracks, and are hoping to release a debut album shortly

As always on the show we had a fun light hearted chat on the bands musical journey before settling down to some fantastic track plays from their EP, and were also treated to 2 very special acapella covers. So first up is `Don’t Let Go`  Ellamore dont let go_0  followed by `Mama Knows Best`  Mama knows best Ellamore_0

 

TigerLilly

For the second week in June I was joined in the studio by the talented singer songwriter Tiger Lilly

Winner of ‘Best out of Area Act’ Exposure Music Awards East 2010 and one of the most exciting independent artists in the UK. With two albums out on iTunes, her own clothing line on ASOS and 3 UK tours behind her, playing over 100 UK venues including legendary venues such as the 100 Club on Oxford Street and the Hard Rock Café London, Tiger Lilly is one of the most exciting independent artists in the UK right now.

She is a quirky British pop/rock artist from the suburbs of London with Persian roots has a unique voice and distinctive sound and had just released a free downloadable EP titled ‘Revolving Doors’ of which. Here are 2 tracks… `Walk a Mile`  tigerlilly walk a mile_0  and `Silence is Golden` Silence Is Golden 260kbps variable

 

 

Elane Blane

Sunday 23rd June  I was joined in studio 1 by up-coming singer Ellen Blane
Ellen is an amazing talented 15-year-old singer/songwriter.

Ellen Blane is a very skilled songwriter and has the ability to take real life situations and put it in to lyrics in a song. Ellen also writes all her own material and has also helped write for other artists, and at such a young age.

Ellen has won mass amounts of competitions and is still going strong.
She has performed at Hackney Empire alongside the likes of C Cane and Jermaine Jackman. She has also been put through to perform at a showcase in Camden teen stars.

She is working on all her own material and had got gigs around London when she took a detour to pop onto the show, she has been getting a lot of recognition by different PR’s and different A&R’s.

She will be releasing her material later on in the year. Here is one of the tracks she played live on the show called  `Sunset`  ellan blane sunset_0

 

Mr Arch

A sunny 21st July and I was joined on the show by upcoming hip hop star Mr Arch.

You may well remember the name! that is because he rapped on another of the show`s guests track `Catch me if you Can` by R&B s singer Rajiv another show regular who was on the show back in 2012. This was his debut single called…….Run Boy Run   mr arch run boy run_0

 

Jonny Winston

Sunday 28th July I was joined in the studio by the wonderfully talented singer songwriter Jonny Winston.
Jonny only got down to business song writing and performing seriously a year and a half ago! And instantly started making heads turn. With new forms of electronic music on the rise and more and more producers looking for unique voices and topline writing talent all it took was one song to open the floodgates. What started out as “good times” with mates eventually led to additional collaborations, compilations and a publishing deal with Phoenix Music International (no relation lol).

Now based in London, and having since popped back to the show quite recently ,  Jonny found time to pop into the show and showcase his new sounds, this Live track is called `Flatline`  jonny winston flat line_0

Followed by a cover of No Diggity   no diggity_Jonny winston

 

Melody and the Boytoys

August brought not only the sunshine on what was a long summer for a change but also some fun in to the studio as I was joined on the show by Melody & Bonnie Freechyld whom had collaborated with the band Boytoys for their new track.

Melody described on twitter as

Bombastic obsessed with food and write songs for pop tarts..

Is a singer, songwriter and promoter who has supported Mich Winehouse and D-Ream (you’re the best thing)

Whilst Bonnie Freechyld who has also worked with Mich Winehouse and Omar, and has over half a million YouTube hits from a connection with the maylay language! Also has a separate pop career.

Milla Falls

It’s always great to welcome  previous guests back onto the show, so on the  (29th Sept) I was excited to be joined by Mila Falls, and  I was particularly excited as not only am I a big fan of her music, I have also been watching her career go from strength to strength over the past year. I predict big things for this young lady in 2014

Tara Prya

(Sunday 13th Oct) it was my pleasure to welcome to the Phoenix fm studio and Sunday Lunch Show singer songwriter `Tara Priya’

Tara who is originates from San Francisco in the USA was over in the UK to write and record her new album, and release it with a major record label.

Tara Priya combines vintage soul, poetic lyrics, and a dash of pop to provide relief from today’s Auto-Tune avalanche. Sweet and sour, lovely and lovelorn, the retro-soul “jewel” (Access!) is a story as distinctive as her sound.

Tara performed several live acoustic tracks on the show here are two of my favourites both live in the studio `Rollin`  Tara Pryia Rollin_0  and `Mr Infidelity` Tara Pryia Mr Infidelety_0

 

For the rest of sept, Oct and the start of November I had the return of Mannequins, Jonny Winston, Tigerlilly.

 

For the second week in November another live double, first up was reformed group Avelyn that used to be called yesterdays sorrow, the band came in with a copy of their new album and chatted about their plans for this coming year.

Cielo

For my second live band of the day (10th Nov) I was excited to welcome on to the show Norwich based band CIELO

Cielo are a five piece urban pop/funk band. Originating from Norwich who are consistently selling out venues across their local region. Their sounds have influences from Jazz, Hip-Hop, Blues, Latin & Flamenco, Swing, Rock n Roll however they incorporate these sounds in a commercial nature.

You may well remember the name! that is because he rapped on another of the show`s guests track `Catch me if you Can` by R&B s singer Rajiv another show regular who was on the show back in 2012. This was his debut single called…….Run Boy Run   mr arch run boy run_0

 

Jonny Winston

Sunday 28th July I was joined in the studio by the wonderfully talented singer songwriter Jonny Winston.
Jonny only got down to business song writing and performing seriously a year and a half ago! And instantly started making heads turn. With new forms of electronic music on the rise and more and more producers looking for unique voices and topline writing talent all it took was one song to open the floodgates. What started out as “good times” with mates eventually led to additional collaborations, compilations and a publishing deal with Phoenix Music International (no relation lol).

Now based in London, and having since popped back to the show quite recently ,  Jonny found time to pop into the show and showcase his new sounds, this Live track is called `Flatline`  jonny winston flat line_0

Melody and the Boytoys

August brought not only the sunshine on what was a long summer for a change but also some fun in to the studio as I was joined on the show by Melody & Bonnie Freechyld whom had collaborated with the band Boytoys for their new track.

Melody described on twitter as

Bombastic obsessed with food and write songs for pop tarts..

Is a singer, songwriter and promoter who has supported Mich Winehouse and D-Ream (you’re the best thing)

Whilst Bonnie Freechyld who has also worked with Mich Winehouse and Omar, and has over half a million YouTube hits from a connection with the maylay language! Also has a separate pop career.

Milla Falls

It’s always great to welcome  previous guests back onto the show, so on the  (29th Sept) I was excited to be joined by Mila Falls, and  I was particularly excited as not only am I a big fan of her music, I have also been watching her career go from strength to strength over the past year. I predict big things for this young lady in 2014

Tara Prya

(Sunday 13th Oct) it was my pleasure to welcome to the Phoenix fm studio and Sunday Lunch Show singer songwriter `Tara Priya’

Tara who is originates from San Francisco in the USA was over in the UK to write and record her new album, and release it with a major record label.

Tara Priya combines vintage soul, poetic lyrics, and a dash of pop to provide relief from today’s Auto-Tune avalanche. Sweet and sour, lovely and lovelorn, the retro-soul “jewel” (Access!) is a story as distinctive as her sound.

Tara performed several live acoustic tracks on the show here are two of my favourites both live in the studio `Rollin`  Tara Pryia Rollin_0  and `Mr Infidelity` Tara Pryia Mr Infidelety_0

 

For the rest of sept, Oct and the start of November I had the return of Mannequins, Jonny Winston, Tigerlilly.

 

For the second week in November another live double, first up was reformed group Avelyn that used to be called yesterdays sorrow, the band came in with a copy of their new album and chatted about their plans for this coming year.

Cielo

For my second live band of the day (10th Nov) I was excited to welcome on to the show Norwich based band CIELO

Cielo are a five piece urban pop/funk band. Originating from Norwich who are consistently selling out venues across their local region. Their sounds have influences from Jazz, Hip-Hop, Blues, Latin & Flamenco, Swing, Rock n Roll however they incorporate these sounds in a commercial nature.

Highlights for the group so far include supporting Ash, Feeder and Roots Manuva  at PLAYFEST  festival last year, headlining the soapbox stage at Folk East w/ Seth Lakeman & Bellowhead and of course playing live on the Sunday lunch show

Look Twice

On the Sunday Lunch Show (17th Nov 2013) were `Look 2wice`

Look 2wice is a duo from Southend, Consisting of Jamie Levy and Ricci Turner. The genre of music is hard to pinpoint exactly but has been listed more as a hip-hop pop twist with a touch of R’n’B.

They have currently been working on their debut album `Never Forgotten` and have a debut single titled Rush which is OUT NOW!  Here is a live studio version off their track  `Back Down`  Back Down – Mastered (look2wice)

 

Elles Bailly

A Chilly 24th Nov 2013 and I welcomed to the Sunday Lunch Show the multi talented singer songwriter Elles Baily.

Elles who is currently in process of recording her new album took time out from a weekend of gigs in London to drop by the phoenix FM studio to a chat and sing an exclusive live set for us on the show.

Elles who hails from Bristol has been playing keyboard, song writing and recording for the last nine years, and has fronted well known local Indie bands supporting  Sugababes, Scouting for Girls and other similar acts.

Elles is currently working on her fourth Album produced and co written by Brian Banks who worked with MJ.. Here are the live Studio tracks `Howling wolf` Howlin Wolf and `Dyeing Age` Dying Age

 

Pete Brame

This week (8th Dec) I had the pleasure in welcoming on to the show 2 unique guests, actor Eddie webber was in the studio. And also former BBC Fame Academy singer songwriter Pete Brame.

Pete a singer-songwriter, from Colchester, who once dated radio DJ Fearne Cotton, has returned to the music scene and is in the process of writing new tracks for his debut album.

Peter- first gained musical recognition for his performances on BBC reality TV show Fame Academy in 2003 when he finished fourth and took time out from his busy schedule to pop onto the Phoenix FM studios to chat and play some of his new material live on the Show.

On that same day I also had the pleasure of interviewing Actor and Director Eddie Webber whom had just completed a new pilot series `power to the people` with Geoff Bell, and Danny Dyer, and many other big named stars, the series is being put to several main TV companies so we hope to see it on one of the big 5 in 2014.

 

And my final guest for the year was a phone interview with lead singer Nigel Clarke from 90s pop band sensation Dodgy, who joined me via phone to chat about their new charity Christmas single `Christmas at the Foodbank` you can listen again to the interview by clicking the audio tab.Nigel from the Band Dodgy_0
