You Are Supercilious, Pretty And Ridiculous – 28/07/13

Album Of The WeekF*** Buttons – Slow Focus : From time to time an album comes along and completely catches you off guard and is absolutely brilliant (and also gives you tingles, but we’ll not go into that here!). The best way I can sum up is this record is that it sounds like the soundtrack to the greatest science fiction movie never made.
It hasn’t been off the 33RPM stereo for the past week and I can’t see it being removed for the forseeable future. I know I often say that that albums are recommended but this is absolutely essential. Buy it! Now! Go on, you, yes you..get to your nearest musical emporium and buy!

33RPM At The MoviesLalo Schifrin – Dirty Harry : I’ve loved this film since I was a young teenager, along with the soundtrack, especially the opening title theme. The music I feel has a real groove to it. And I’ve always felt that it matches Eastwood’s performance perfectly, as Harry Callahan always seemed to have a groove to the way he walked, talked and acted, especially in the first Dirty Harry movie. When I was thirteen years old Dirty Harry was one of the coolest characters I’ve ever seen. And a little part of me still feels that way now.

The Name Remains The SameHeadache : This week Metz, Frank Black and Angie & The Citations all had a headache. Bless.

PS : Big thanks to Gary for covering my show last week while I was sunning it up in Suffolk at Latitude Festival. Had a thoroughly excellent time, saw and talked to some amazing bands, and if I’m honest I’m still suffering a bit of a comedown a week later.
One particular new band I caught at the festival was Maglia Rosa Group (I also had a chance to chat with vocalist Daisy which you can check out in our Latitude roundup on this very website). It’s great to see a band who were so thrilled to be at the festival and looked as if they were enjoying every minute of their set. They have a debut EP which you can obtain from the following webpage : https://magliarosagroup.bandcamp.com/
The EP is pay what you want but it’s definitely worth a few of your hard-earned pennies.
See you next week.
