Ah – A bank holiday Saturday and the sun is shining!

Normally we swelter in the office all week and as soon as the weekend arrives (especially an extended  Bank Holiday weekend), it chucks it down with rain. But this time it’s all the other way around. The last week has been pretty cold and as for yesterday, the least said about it the better!

So it may not be as warm as it ought to be, or we would like, but the weekend ahead looks good. As such we set ourselves up for the weekend with an absolute feast of music including songs by such diverse artists as The Corrs, REM, Calvin Harris, The Righteous Brothers, Pixie Lott, AC-DC, Katy Perry and Sam Callaghan. Unfortunately whilst we were on air, news came in about horrendous queues on the M25 which was closed between the A12 and the A127 so hopefully we were able to keep you entertained if you were stuck in that lot. It could have been worse as had you been in Hertfordshire the jams stretched for 34 miles. Why might that have been worse I hear you ask? Well quite apart from the more than 2-hours, you’d have been stuck there, since you’d have been outside our transmission area so unless you can listen to us via your mobile phone, we would have been unable to keep you company!

In the second hour, Frances Clamp joined me to relate the history behind one of the mainstays

of Brentwood’s economy in the 1920’s and 30’s, SELO LTD. Selo was a photographic company associated with Ilford Films and although they ceased to exist as such by the end of the war, their name lives on today by way of the BRENTWOOD-SELO SUB AQUA CLUB which was formed 50 years ago by a group of swimming enthusiasts employed by Ilford Films. The club continues to this very day and meets at The Brentwood Centre every Friday evening.

Right. Enjoy your extended weekend. See you next week when THE ESSEX GHOST HUNTERS will be returning.

All the best,
