Basildon is sound – with BAS 2013

Great hectic bundle of joy of a show this week, despite the snow flurries outside, I managed to open the float-gates to another hot potato of a show; which was just as well, as we invaded by the BAS Production crew …Gary Clark, Susan Paget, Richard Sharpe and Kevin Burtt (Clare Whatley was there in spirit). We chatted about this year event on the May bank Holiday, about the history, the bands, my dodgy Essex accent and exclusive hint at a Record label….

BAS 2013 – May bank Holiday 25/26/27th

Enjoy the chatty Interview again, which is within the edited show red-link posted below>

The Saturday Breakfast Show on Phoenix 98FM (Edited) by Robrv on Mixcloud

Lots of BAS artists were on the show playlist, as well as the great Simple Minds who will be touring and will have special guests in the shape of Ultravox…….oooooh – check this classic video..

My music pick for this week;

Tue 26 Mar Chapel Club – Plan B, Brixton
London indie-rock five piece whose debut album Palace was released in January 2011 and saw them break into the UK top 40.

Wed 27 Mar Stornoway – The Forum, London
Quirky indie folk band who consist of an Ornithologist, an occasional Russian translator, a South African Pirate Captain, and a human radio.

Thu 28- Fri 29 Mar Bastille – O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, London
Underground upcoming band playing bewitching electro-pop. Their song ’Flaws’ has become quite the Youtube hit, spawning loads of covers.

Sat 30 Mar Suede – Alexandra Palace, London
Mercury Prize-winning alternative rock band who were at the forefront of the 90s Britpop movement. Formed in 1989, Suede enjoyed great commercial success as well as considerable critical acclaim throughout the 90s.

My Comedy show picks for this week……

Harry Hill, at the Hammersmith Apollo- 26th Mar 2013 • Hammersmith Apollo
Harry Hill doesn’t do many stand-up shows these days, so it’s great to see the floppy-collared loon back where he belongs. Joined again by his showband “The Harrys”, there’ll be a chance to catch up on Harry’s Nan’s latest ailments.

Russell Howard and Friends 31st Mar 2013 • Roundhouse
Russell Howard, the star of TV’s “Good News” and “Mock The Week”, will be performing a “work-in-progress” show at the intimate Roundhouse Studio. This will be a rare opportunity to see one of the country’s most popular Comics
