As MICHELLE WARD was off duty today, I had the pleasure of setting the lunch table for her today. With no Michelle, there was no question of the day so instead I took a look at some of the oddball stories taken from PHOENIX FM’s Department of WEIRD AND WACKY NEWS.
First off was the story of two fire engines, two police cars and an emergency gas team rushing to a suspected gas leak in a suburb of the Swedish capital Stockholm to deal with a suspected gas leak. Unfortunately it was discovered that the stench originated from surstromming, a notoriously foul-smelling Swedish delicacy made from fermented herring, traditionally served at autumn parties. Very nice with chips!
The second story was of a woman from South Carolina, who found that an ex boy friend was living in her attic, 12 years after they broke up! Seems he had been sleeping in the heating ducts for some weeks. It is unclear however just how he was getting in and out, or getting food. Next time you hear strange noises coming from your loft, check carefully it might not be bats, squirrels or birds after all.
Finally came the story of a car wash in Malaysia who struck on the unusual marketing ploy of offering regular customers some very “personal” services at the local massage parlour. Customers were able to claim this unusual benefit for every 10th car wash provided within a stipulated time frame. Some lessons here for some of our car washes, I wonder!
Don’t forget that Michelle will be back “bright eyed and bushy tailed” on Monday morning at 11.
But that’s it from me.
Have a good wekend.
