May not be for long

My last show of May, and what beautiful weather to have it on….scorching sunshine breakfast show – roll on the Diamond Jubilee June. More new music again today, one from ‘Father Tiger and the other from ‘Grimes’.

Twofers today, doth its cap to those Manchurians, the Stones Roses, who played a secret gig in Manchester this week, and by all accounts it was a ‘sound’ and they were still ‘mad for it’ ….. so we played ‘I want to be adored’ and ‘I am the resurrection’.

Reformed ..'the Stone Roses'

My Comedy show picks for this week……

E4 Udderbelly: Pete Firman – 1st June 2012 • Southbank Centre

Pete Firman’s hilarious “Jiggery Pokery” show was such a resounding success at the Edinburgh Festival that he’s taking it on a national tour. Firman’s brand of magic includes amazing feats and a rapid rate of top-notch.

Paul Merton and Josie Lawrence — Comedy Store – 3rd June 2012 • Comedy Store

TV’s Paul Merton will be joining Josie Lawrence at the Comedy Store Players for a night of comedy improvisation. Other comedians on the bill include Neil Mullarkey, Richard Vranch, Andy Smart and Lee Simpson.

Bill Bailey — ‘Qualmpeddler’ – 4th June 2012 • Leicester Square Theatre

Bill Bailey’s new show “Qualmpeddler” is all about his ‘qualms’. Bill has many qualms, chiefly about the modern world, nuclear power, dentists, rare planetary alignments, the spice girls and the Mayan End of Days prophecy.

My music pick for this week;

Mon 28 May

Saint Etienne – London Palladium

Indie-dance pioneers from the early nineties who are imaginatively named after the French football team AS Saint-tienne.

Thu 31 May

Guns N’ Roses – The O2, London

Notorious hard rock band from Hollywood who are as famous for their hedonistic rock ‘n’ roll antics as they are for their music.

Fri 01 Jun

Gary Numan – HMV Forum, London

Electronic pioneer famous for pop favourites such as ‘Are Friends Electric?’ and ‘Cars’. Embarks on his UK tour with his rocky new album, Dead son rising
