LFW closed with Men’s Day. Though this is the last time that the menswear shows in London will be confined to a single day at the end of women’s Fashion Week. Come June, the men’s presentations will span an entire 3 days,
Key looks seen were sequins on knitwear, structured and luxurious fabrics like black velvet trousers worn either skinny or loose fitted.
Standout pieces from Men’s day was the English-made suiting in wool and herringbone blends displaying impeccable tailoring.
Professor Chic Look
Here is the Fashion Zone guide to perfecting the professor chic look down to a fine art.
There’s nothing wrong with a little vintage back-catalogue for inspiration, Don’t be afraid to experiment with fabrics normally associated with Austin Powers. The key to striking that fine balance between on-trend modern and simple fancy dress is don’t go overboard.
To pull it off stick to the darker shades in suits. The blazer needs to be fitted but not tight to the point of Norman Wisdom. Trousers, are straight-legged and tailored – usually grazing the ankle to give a peep of colour clashing sock choice.
Layering cardigans and jumpers over rigid, plain shirts is the ultimate in practical preppy; primary colours are perfect for the colour-blocking trend and can also brighten up the darker shades of tailoring this season. Your usual vintage shops will stock the crème de la crème of nerdy woollen wear.
Finishing Touches
Woollen jumpers with leather elbow patches, give authenticity. If you happen to wear glasses, then switch to oval-shaped frames to truly look every inch the intellectual style genius.
Glasses worn purely for fashion purposes are a little too try hard, however, go that extra mile to top off the appearance and you make that A star.
