Hurry up and wait….

The rush of Christmas is almost complete, so now we are almost at the ‘wait for it’ period. The big blow out and gift giving slips to one side into the real event…Hogmanay; well the real party.

Christmas rush in nearly done.....Not.

As we have been spared any festive durges by Sir Cliff Richard, I thought, why not thank him by playing two of his more acceptable tunes. So todays ‘twofers’ was ‘Out in the Country’ and ‘Wired for Sound.

My Comedy show picks for this week……

Paul Merton and Josie Lawrence – 18th Dec 2011 • Comedy Store

TV’s Paul Merton will be joining Josie Lawrence at the Comedy Store Players for a night of comedy improvisation. Other comedians on the bill include Lee Simpson, Richard Vranch, Andy Smart and Neil Mullarkey.

Russell Howard’s “Right Here, Right Now” 19th Dec 2011 • O2 Arena

Russell Howard, the star of TV’s “Good News” and “Mock The Week”, has extended his “Right Here, Right Now” tour due to exceptional demand — and it promises to be his biggest and best to date.

Mark Thomas: Extreme Rambling – 23rd Dec 2011 • Lyttelton Theatre

Political comedian Mark Thomas decided to spend a pleasant holiday rambling in the Middle East, walking the entire length of the wall that separates the Israelis from the Palestinians. “Walking The Wall: Extreme Rambling” tells the story of a 750km wall, one stoning, six arrests, and far too much humour…

Live music pick for this week;

Sat 17 Dec

White Lies – Wembley Arena

London three-piece with quirky melodic choruses. Their music is surprisingly accomplished for such a young band and is layered with anthemic synths, which has seen them draw comparisons with The Killers.

Sun 18 Dec

The Levellers – O2 Academy Brixton

Grungy rural rockers who are influenced by traditional English music, as well as punk and rock. The band had hits with albums ‘Levelling the Land’ and the single ‘One Way’.

Wed 21 Dec

The Suburbians – The Garage

A much-anticipated eclectic mix of rock, indie and blues, delivered to audiences by this fresh four-piece band.

Sat 31 Dec

NYE RE: WIRED – Kasabian, Chase & Status Live – The O2, London

New Year’s Eve gets the Kasabian treatment with the party to end all parties; a colossal musical extravaganza set to take the roof off The O2 with an Arena sized bang. Not content with flexing their muscles in some of the country’s best arenas for a monster 13-date headline tour, Kasabian will be joined by Chase & Status Live and Zane Lowe for a night of high-octane entertainment and show-stopping celebrations.
