TRACK

TEEN track star Jessica Judd is continuing to re-write the record books. The 16-year-old, from Canvey, ran the fastest 1,500m by an under-17 woman in UK history on Saturday night.  It means the Castle View school student now holds the UK all-time record for 3,000m, 1,500m and is second in the 800m list.

After a heavy race programme in recent weeks, Judd is likely to spend the next few weeks training before returning to action at the English Schools Championships in the first week of July.

The following week she will head to Lille, France, for the World Youth Championships.

CRICKET

Benfleet continued their unbeaten start to the season and ended Billericay’s 100 per cent record in the process.

The battle of the top two at the Toby Howe Ground saw the Benfleet visitors put into bat.

Benfleet finished on 171-9 from their 50 overs

Billericay were bowled out for 103 in 28.3 overs

SAILING

470 SAILOR Katrina Hughes is convinced that victory at next month’s Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta would confirm her spot at next year’s Olympics — and she has got every intention of seizing the opportunity with both hands.
