On In The Mix this week Mike and Adam, two memebers from the local band BridgeBound came into the studio for a chat and also played a couple of acoustics, which will all be aviable to listen back to on the website very soon! But also as ever there was much celebrity gossip to be talked about which can be read below …

Dermot O’Leary Talks about Facebook and Simon Cowell
Popular presenter Dermot O’Leary, has revealed that he has been kicked off Facebook because he was thought to be an imposter.
He said “I’ve got to be honest, they chucked me off Facebook – they thought it was someone pretending to be me, so I haven’t got a Facebook, they literally threw me off Facebook, how annoying is that?”
Dermot also has spoke about how X Factor judge Simon Cowell has a bath in his dressing room. He said “Simon’s decked out his whole dressing room, his whole dressing room is monochrome. It’s like his house, and he’s got a bath in his dressing room as well, no word of a lie. I have been in there. He loves a bath, Simon, it gives him time to think.”
Dermot continued talking about Simon describing his qualities; he says “He’s a workaholic. He’s a great boss, and I’m not just saying that. He’s very loyal, he’s very honest, and he just wants that in return. He smells fear though, he’s like a wolf. If you’re confident in your own opinions then he’s good, but he doesn’t like indecision, he doesn’t like fear, he likes people to be confident. He’s taught me a lot actually in that regard, I owe him a lot.”
Gino Cooks Naked
Jamie Oliver is usually known as the naked chef but this week another Italian chef was on out TV screens cooking naked in the shape of Gino D’Acampo. Gino cooks regularly on the programme This Morning and a few months ago he promised that if This Morning won a National Television Award (which took place on Wednesday) then he would cook naked.
And of course This Morning won the NTA for best, Topical Magazine Programme therefore Gino had to stick to his promise. Programme bosses had ensured that the working surface was raised to prevent any unfortunate flashes. As the chef started to cook his gammon and pea dish Phillip pointed out he was not “technically” naked as he was wearing an apron, therefore Gino took it of. Phillip also pointed out that the studio had “never been fuller” as programme staff crammed in to watch and I’m sure many people was watching at home too.
National Television Awards
As mentioned This Morning won the National TV award for best Topical Magazine Programme other winners included Best Drama- Waterloo road, Best entertainment programme- I’m a celebrity, Talent Show- X Factor, digital Choice- The Inbetweeners and best Entertainment presenters, Ant and Dec who has won for the 10th year in a row! A special recognition award was presented to Bruce Forsyth and the award best serial Drama saw the 4 main soaps Eastenders, Coronation Street, Hollyoaks and Emmerdale go head to head with Eastenders winning.
There were other awards given on the night as well and of course the dresses worn were beautiful and if you want to see them they can be seen on the website www.nationaltvawards.com
I was very lucky to actually be there live at the O2 where the NTA’s where held and I also enjoyed seeing the performances by Essex girl Stacey Solomon who sang with Shaun Ryder to open the show. Essex Boy and X-Factor winner Matt Cardle also sang his winning single and the very funny and showbiz Louis Spence dance for us he was very good. If you missed it, it can be watched back on the ITV player.
We all know Lady Gaga has a bit of a wild dress sense some of which has caused much conversation such as the meat dress she wore to the VMA’s but she has been nominated in the most stylish and the least stylish at the NME awards this year. She is also up for Hero of the year.
Oasis star Liam Gallagher has his own clothing range but also joins Gaga in the least stylish group.
On the music side of things Foals have led the nominations, with 5 including best British band and best album. Joint next in the lead with 4 nominations are Arcade Fire and My Chemical Romance. Arctic Monkeys, Biffy Clyro, Kasabian and Muse are all for the British band prize too.
I don’t usually watch the NME awards but looking on the website some of the categories are a bit odd such as worst album and worst band. If I were one of the people nominated for worst album, who this year include Cheryl Cole, Justin Bieber and Katy Perry I don’t know if I would even bother turning up to the awards. And how embarrassing it must be for the winner going on stage and saying ‘Thanks for this award, I’ve put so much time and effort into this album and it’s been voted the worst!’ I wouldn’t want the award in my house reminding me of that night, but anyway, the awards take place at the O2 Brixton Academy on the 23rd February so keep an eye out for that.
