Football: Local Sides Round-up (Through the Divisions) – Dec 3rd 2016

Scott W Reporting – Phoenix FM Sport

Here’s a round-up of all of today’s results (Dec 3rd ’16) from the local sides we look out for on Phoenix Sport. (Image: Scott W)

West Ham Utd 1 – 5 Arsenal    (Premier League)

Another star turn from Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez secured a big win for Arsenal at the London Stadium. Alexis, who grabbed a 15-minute hat-trick in the second half plus goals from Ozil and Oxlade-Chamberlain sends the Gunners into 2nd spot in the table. Substitute Andy Carroll got a late consolation for the Hammers, who haven’t won a league match in nearly six weeks.

Bristol City 2 – 0 Ipswich Town        (EFL Championship)

The hosts got their first win in four matches with a good win over Ipswich Town at Ashton Gate. Goals from Lee Tomlin (pen) and a cracking 25-yard volley from Luke Freeman were enough for City, who sit in 11th spot. Ipswich sit in 16th place.

Dover Athletic 1 – 2 Dagenham & Redbridge   (National League)

Dag & Red recovered from their poor recent form to record a good win against in-form Dover at the Crabble Stadium. A super free-kick from on-loan forward Jordan Maguire-Drew & a headed goal by Daggers legend Paul Benson, his first since re-signing for the club, were enough to grab the points. Dag & Red rise to 4th, back in the play-off places, replacing today’s opponents who now sit 6th.

Chelmsford City 3 – 3 Hungerford Town    (National League South)

A topsy-turvy game at Melbourne Park saw both sides take a share of the points. Chelmsford took the lead through Anthony Church, Hungerford responded through Ian Herring , Nat Jarvis and Nicholas Bignall to lead 3-1 before a Shaun Jeffers brace retrieved a point for City. Chelmsford are in 6th place in the table, two points off the play-off positions. Hungerford are in 8th spot, six points behind City.

Concord Rangers 2 – 1 Hampton & Richmond Borough   (National League South)

The Beach Boys continued their good run of form, defeating the high-flying Beavers at the Aspect Arena. A Tom Jelley OG and a goal from striker Jordan Chiezodie, who signed a new contract this week was enough for the win. Portsmouth-bound striker Jamal Lowe got a consolation for the visitors. Concord are in 18th spot, five points clear of the bottom three whereas Hampton fall to fifth as all the other teams in the play-off positions (St Albans City, Ebbsfleet Utd & Dartford) won today.

Wealdstone 1 – 0 East Thurrock Utd      (National League South)

Liam Goulding’s goal was enough for the Stones to defeat East Thurrock Utd at Grosvenor Vale. The home side rise to 10th in the table. The Rocks are in 9th spot, ahead of Wealdstone on goal difference.

Worthing 2 – 2 Billericay Town     (Ryman Premier Division)

The Blues were held to a draw at Woodside Road, having initially taken the lead through Jerome Sobers. Lloyd Dawes equalised from the penalty spot for the Rebels before half-time. Billy Bricknell put Billericay in front once again, though Zack Newton secured a point with his goal late on. Worthing now sit in 16th spot, whereas Craig Edwards’ men sit in 12th, only five points behind the play-off positions.

Bury Town 3 – 1 Brentwood Town       (Ryman League Division North)

The home side comfortably saw off Brentwood at Ram Meadow. Ollie Hughes put Bury Town in front, though Andy Greenslade equalised for Town before the break. Remi Garrett and Ryan Jolland goals though secured the points for the hosts. Brentwood’s pain was compounded when striker Shad Ngandu saw red late on as Brentwood have now unfortunately lost their last six matches. Bury Town sit in 6th place, just outside the play-offs on goal difference. Tony Ievoli’s men are in 20th position, aided by the fact that of the sides around them, only Thamesmead Town & Waltham Abbey won today.

Wroxham 0 – 3 Bowers & Pitsea     (Ryman League Division North)

Bowers & Pitsea continued their excellent recent form to defeat Wroxham at Trafford Park. Goals from Lewis Manor, Alfie Hilton and Brad Warner wrapped up all three points for Rob Small’s men. Wroxham remain bottom of the Ryman North table, four points from safety. In contrast, Bowers rise to 7th position, two points outside the play-off positions having won their last five matches now.
