In Our Days We Will Live, Like Our Ghosts Will Live – 17/06/12

This week continues my obsession with the rather brilliant new Future Of The Left album, with which I toyed the idea of just playing the whole thing in full 2.5 times on this weeks show. But in a moment of sanity I opted for two from my ever growing list of favourites from the album. Also getting a lot of plays on the 33RPM stereo is the new Fiona Apple album entitled The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do, her first album in 7 years which is getting well deserved praise pretty much universally.
On top of the above we got very giddy at the announcement of a collaberation between St. Vincent and David Byrne who release the fruits of their collab Love This Giant on the 10th September. You can download a free track from the album Who (which is fifty shades of brilliant) at the following link : https://lovethisgiant.com/
Other things on our minds this week were Ash turning 20, Shellac being announced as curaters for the ATP Nightmare before Christmas festival, taking place at Camber Sands from November 30th – December 2nd, what music I’d like played at my funeral (Iron And Wine’s hauntingly beautiful Resurrection Fern was what I came up with) and the fact Chairlift have come up with the most unpronounceable song title of the year.
Track listing below with a Spotify playlist.
