Music is bigger than words and wider than pictures – 15/11/11

This weeks show came with a rather excellent announcement from ATP Festivals in that the London leg of their I’ll Be Your Mirror festival will be returning in 2012, with headliners Slayer(who will be performing their classic album Reign In Blood in full, Mogwai and Guided By Voices. For more information see the link below :
https://www.atpfestival.com/events/ibymlondon2012.php

Also we played a great little song called Shamrocks from a Southend based singer-songwriter who goes under the moniker The Emotion Signal. Having seen him perform live a few times now (and witnessed his cover of Coolio Gangsta’s Paradise) I can say that he definitely has a big future in front of him. You can find more information and check out his songs here : https://emotionsignal.wordpress.com/.

Our featured album was the epicly titled This Is It and I Am It and You Are It and So Is That and He Is It and She Is It and It Is It and That Is That by Marnie Stern (pictured above). An absolutely brilliant female guitarist / singer-songwriter who has released 3 superb albums and suprisingly does not get the credit and fame she deserves.

For this shows 2 bands 1 song I picked The Rolling Stones – (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction, with covers from Cat Power and Devo.

Another mention of ATP with a free download of a hour long mix by Caribou for their Nightmare Before Christmas festival, tons of ace bands so well worth a download from : https://www.atpfestival.com/assets/cariboumix/index.html

To round things off there were some new tracks from Future Of The Left, Purling Hiss, Lou Reed / Metallica, Islet and REM along with tons of other great music. No show from me next week as I’m off to see one of my favourite bands of 2011 The Babies, but I’ll be back on the 29th November. See you soon!
