Another busy show this week, despite no Premier League or EFL Championship football due to it being an international weekend.

Our featured match saw a superb win for Billericay Town in the Second Round Proper of the FA Trophy, as the Isthmian Premier League outfit beat National League North leaders Tamworth by three goals to one.

Chelmsford City and Aveley also progressed to the third round of the competition.

In the National League, Southend United scored an excellent victory as they beat leaders Chesterfield 2-1 in front of over 8000 fans at Roots Hall.

We also focused on the afternoon’s Rugby Union action, where the English Premiership ‘derby weekend’ included a 26-17 win for Leicester Tigers over their East Midlands rivals Northampton Saints, while closer to home, Colchester RFC continued to set the pace at the top of Regional 1 South East with a 24-15 win at home to Oundle.

In Horse Racing, the afternoon’s big race – the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham – saw a win for 4-1 favourite Stage Star, and we looked forward to the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix which – despite his quoted pre-race misgivings about the event – resulted in triumph for Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.
