Alongside doubles partner Julian Cash, Essex-born Henry Patten is making waves in the tennis world. The pair have won ten ATP Challenger doubles titles since linking up. Can Patten kick on in 2023 and add even more silverware to his growing cabinet?
Second-Round Exit in Australia
The 2023 Australian Open kicked off the Grand Slam year in style. The men’s doubles tournament was dominated by home nation Australia, with the knowledgeable Jason Kubler helping his team to glory at Melbourne Park. As for Patten and Cash, they lost out to the experienced Dutch duo Robin Haase and Matwe Middelkoop in the second round.
After winning another Australian Open men’s singles title, Novak Djokovic has been tipped to have another excellent year. For those looking to place a bet on tennis, Djokovic is currently priced at +163 to win the upcoming French Open. The Serbia star kept up his dominance with a comfortable win in Melbourne. Most people backed Djokovic from the start, and he remained the tournament favorite throughout to secure the 22nd Grand Slam victory of his illustrious career.
As for Patten and Cash, they will head to the French Open full of belief and confidence after their solid performance Down Under. At the Australian Open, the Brits beat the Argentinian team of Guido Pella and Pedro Cachin. After a 6-4 success in the first set, Patten and Cash won 6-3 in set two to book their place in round two at Melbourne Park. Can they replicate that success in France?
Patten and Cash Compete at Wimbledon
Patten and Cash featured at Wimbledon as a double pack at the 2022 edition last summer. Despite suffering defeat at the first hurdle, they would have gained invaluable experience at SW19. The pair built on that and secured their first-ever Grand Slam match win at the Australian Open at the start of this year.
They took on Mexican Santiago Gonzalez and Argentinian Andres Molteni in the first round at Wimbledon in 2022. After taking it to a tiebreak in set one, Patten and Cash went on to lose the last two sets by six games to four to exit their home competition.

64th in the World
In early January 2023, Patten achieved a career-high doubles ranking of 64th in the world. Having turned professional in just 2020, that is a remarkable achievement from the Colchester ace.
Patten and Cash had a memorable 2022 as they made their way up the doubles ladder. Their ten ATP Challenger titles were the record for the most doubles titles in a single season. They won the likes of the Las Vegas Challenger, Drummondville Challenger, and Maia Challenger. Overall, Patten won 16 titles last year, with 14 of those coming with Cash.

After such an impressive year in 2022, Patten and doubles partner Cash will be looking to kick on and claim even more titles in 2023. After an early-round win at the 2023 Australian Open, the pair will be setting their sights on Wimbledon this summer, as they look to better their first-round exit in last season’s championship. A big 2023 could lie ahead for Patten.
