Billericay Town win the Essex Senior Cup!

BILLERICAY TOWN won the Essex Senior Cup last night for the fourth time at Colchester’s Jobserve Stadium.

Blues narrowly overcame battling Bowers & Pitsea 1-0 thanks to a spectacular 30-yard volley from on-loan Dylan Gavin on 31 minutes in front of 1,555 fans.

Both sides had chances to score in the first half with ex-Billericay man Quientin Monville guilty of wasting a great chance when put clean through and Billericay’s Jack Munns hitting the post.

Then came Gavin’s wonder goal, good enough to win any match at any level and so it proved.

The second half was a scrappy affair with a lengthy injury break after Bowers striker Lewis Manor was taken to hospital after colliding with a post.

Gavin blazed a great chance over the bar to seal it but there was a real scare for Billericay in the last minute of stoppage time when James White saw a header from a corner just about kept out by Town keeper Zaki Oualah right on the line.
