Essex Premier Cup
Harold Wood Athletic’s defence of the Essex Premier Cup is still on-going after a Dan Gillard penalty plus a goal from Joe Stevens helped them overcome Old Southendian. Catholic United sailed into the next round with a 6-0 success over Upminster. Nikki Beale scored twice with Dan Williams, Mike Sammut, Dan Trenkel and Max Kent also notching. Frenford also scored six as a Danny Driscoll brace was added to by goals from Carl Conway, Luke Woodward, Charlie Fairhead and Ashely Taylor-Forbes. Their opponents Harwich & Parkston were able to score one reply. Old Chelmsfordians needed extra time before they could overcome West Bergholt; the game ended 4-3 in Old Chelmsfordians’ favour after a titanic clash. Hutton also needed extra time and then penalties to finally put Benfleet to the sword. Josh Bardouleau and Brandon Stack scored the Hutton goals in a game that ended 2-2 before Hutton booked their place in the next round via a 5-4 penalty shootout success. Snaresbrook knocked Shoebury Town out with a 5-1 victory that saw braces for Daniel Tesfay and Harry Brown with Drew Barbier scoring the other goal. Buckhurst Hill won by the same score line at Gas Recreation but had to come from 1-0 to achieve it. Josh Addinall equalised before the second half saw goals from Jose Espinosa, Fehinti Espinosa, Harry Day and Josh Banfield eased Buckhurst Hill through. Shenfield AFC beat White Notley 4-2 courtesy of goals from Ollie Dingli, Alex Broadbridge, Ben Carroll and Ben Absolon. Manford Way beat Saffron Walden Town Res. 3-0 with Damien Yoxall, Connor Leon and Julian Edwards scoring a goal apiece . Kelvedon Hatch also won 3-0 at Redbridge Res. with Mike Daniels, Lee Hamill and Steve Barlex providing the goals. A 3-0 win was also garnered by White Ensign against Great Baddow with Lloyd Wilson, John Hilliard and Jon Wightman providing the goals.
Premier Division
Basildon Town remain bottom of the table after a 6-1 defeat at the hands of Springfield. The defending champions now move up to fourth after Ryan Batchford’s hat-trick was added to by strikes from Josh White, Joe Mayer and Matt Webb. Rayleigh Town remain second from bottom after a 3-1 home defeat against Canning Town. Rahan Ali, Patrick Damali and Joe Thomas scored the goals that move Canning Town up to ninth. Leigh Ramblers shared a point with Bishops Stortford Swifts after a 3-3 draw. Tom Hollingsworth, Justin Hazell and Jack O’Connor scored the Leigh goals with Swifts replying via a Jermain Purchas brace and a Ciaran Kelly strike.
Division One
Harold Hill move up to third winning a ten-goal thriller against lowly Galleywood. Ryan Amass scored a hat-trick for Harold Hill with Terry Amass scoring twice and Kes Casey-Hayford rounding up the scoring. Galleywood scored their replies for a Craig Skipper brace plus a goal apiece from Sam Donn and Lewis Rose. John Gilroy and Charlie Heatly were the FC Hamlets scorers in their 2-0 home win over Runwell Sports.
Division Two
Herongate Athletic took the Division Two leadership off Ongar Town after they won their top of the table clash 3-2. Frank Fenton, Lee Atkinson and Glen Jordan scored the Herongate goals, cancelling out the goals Ross Adams and Ross Carpenter scored for Ongar Town. Jamie Auvache, Ryan Leddra, Ben Rich and Louis Smith scored the Ramsden Scotia goals in a 4-3 win over Rayleigh Town Res. Joe Pyne, Tom Preedy and Joe Ives supplied the Rayleigh goals. Kane Messenger rifled fire past Ryan’s defence on Saturday. May & Baker E.C. Res. went on to win the game 7-0 as Carl Patten and Darren Seymour also hit the target.
Division Three
The top two met on Saturday with White Ensign Res. leapfrogging Leigh Town to take the leadership after winning the game 5-1. James Humphreys scored the Leigh Town goal. Manford Way Res. keep themselves within touching distance of the top two after a 9-3 victory over Roydon. Martin Mixture scored twice with Eliott Walker and Max Green scoring the other goals in Old Chelmsfordians Res’s 4-1 win at Leytonstone United. Alfie Pinter supplied the Leytonstone reply. Beacon Hill Rovers took the opportunity to move away from the bottom places after a 4-1 win over Frenford Res. Zach Armstrong (2), Samuel Winney and Karl Swanborough were the marksmen; Jack Darby scored the Frenford reply. Rob Lorkins scored twice for Hutton Res. as they shared a point with Harold Wood Athletic Res. in a 3-3 draw. Raheem Waite supplied the other Hutton goal.
