Brentwood Art Trail 2017

The Brentwood Art Trail is back! This year’s event takes place at several venues across the borough from 15-30 June.

Pamela Bickle

Pamela Bickle is one of the exhibitors at Onaplate, Hutton Road, Shenfield

Part of the Essex Summer of Art, this year’s trail will spotlight over two dozen individual artists. Shops and cafes in Brentwood and Shenfield have donated their window and wall spaces to become temporary pop-up galleries.

In addition, Brentwood Library is hosting an artwork display by Open Arts, a charitable community arts and mental health project managed by Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust.

John Brandler of Brandler Galleries has curated a unique Banksy exhibit with over 80 pieces of artwork by the well-known street artist. John recently came in to talk about this with Michelle Ward, and you can hear him talk about it here.

Other local art galleries are also participating, including Neil Graham Gallery and Turner Barnes Gallery.

For more information or to view the Brentwood Art Trail online, visit www.brentwoodarttrail.co.uk.

Featured artists and venues include:

The Pilgrim’s Staff at Brentwood Town Hall

Installed as part of the Genius Loci project, this 10 foot high stainless steel and bronze structure sits outside the Town Hall to celebrate the town’s historic significance on trade and pilgrim routes.

Banksy Exhibition at Brandler Galleries

John Brandler has curated the most comprehensive exhibition of record sleeves designed by the artist known as Banksy.

Elissa Elwick at Chicken and Frog Bookshop

Ahead of her appearance at the Brentwood Children’s Literary Festival (22-30 July), Elissa will be painting the windows at Chicken and Frog with her whimsical children’s illustrations.

Sean McMahon at the Baytree Centre

Sean has recreated his artist’s studio in one of the empty shop units at The Baytree Centre. Pieces on display include his “Trump Lamp” and a copy of a well-known Norman Rockwell painting.

Susan Burns at Brentwood Theatre

The theatre’s outdoor seating area will be yarnbombed with Alice in Wonderland and Narnia themed decorations to celebrate the past and current Christmas shows.
