The last show of the month is DOUBLES where I play two songs from each artist. In the news back in the 80’s was:
1980 – Silver Thursday in the US. A steep fall in silver prices, resulting from the Hunt Brothers attempting to corner the market in silver, led to panic on commodity and futures exchanges. The Hunts lost over a billion dollars through this incident!
1981: Thousands of people ran through the normally quiet Sunday streets of the capital to compete in the first ever London marathon.
Pounding along the 26 mile route from Greenwich Park, in south east London, to Buckingham Palace, 6,700 participants turned out in drizzle to complete the gruelling run.
