In preparation of my trip to Glasgow to watch England play Scotland I decided to do a playlist of bands from each nation up against each other to see how they fair. I played them in two songs stints alternating from each country. Below is my playlist…

2. Franz Ferdinand – Do You Want To vs Arctic Monkeys – Snap Out Of It
3. Biffy Clyro – A Whole Child Ago vs Pulled Apart By Horses – High Five, Swan Dive, Nose Dive
4. Paolo Nutini – She’s in Fashion (Feat. Janelle Monae) vs Frank Turner – I Still Believe
5. Travis – Sing vs Keane – Somewhere Only We Know
6. The Fratellis – Whistle For The Choir vs The Enemy – Gimme The Sign
7. The View – Face For The Radio vs The Libertines – Time For Heroes
8. Snow Patrol – You’re All That I have vs Oasis – Supersonic
9. Jesus And Mary Chain – April Skies vs The Smiths – Bigmouth Strikes Again
10. Chvrches – Night Skies vs Kasabian – Processed Beats
11. Twin Atlantic – Yes, I Was Drunk vs Bombay Bicycle Club – Ivy and Gold
12. Kassidy – Get By vs Kaiser Chiefs – Everyday I love You Less and Less
13. Glasvegas – Daddy’s Gone vs Reverend and The Makers – The Machine (Feat. Alex Turner)
14. KT Tunstall – Suddenly I See vs Jake Bugg – Me and You
15. Primal Scream – Loaded vs The Wombats – Kill The Director
Now we all know England won the game but I felt in regards as music is concerned they match up well. The majority of Scottish acts came from Glasgow and I suppose that is poignant as that is where the game was played but it took until KT Tunstall to find an act from Edinburgh and that fascinated me.
I had a great time in Glasgow. Would love to go back. Join me on Sunday at 6pm to play songs about escapism. Weird subject I know, but I enjoyed getting away for a few days.
