This weeks local jazz events are:
8pm Tuesday 29th April@JAZZ AT THE BARDSWELL. Return visit of Paul Higgs, trumpet, a prolific musician whose rich imagination allows him to create the right mood making his understanding of all musical genres and composition unrivalled. He has credits for composing and arranging for TV, Drop the Dead Donkey, for Royal National Theatre, Look Back in Anger and was Musical Director for Royal Shakespeare Company in Midsummers Night Dream.
8pm Wednesday 30th April@BELVEDERE JAZZ & MUSIC CLUB – The London City Big Band with Billy Boothroyd
The London City Big Band is an exciting 18 piece swing band, comprising of some of the finest young musicians in London and the UK. Employing graduate musicians from the top Music Colleges in London, the ensemble provides an authentic sound that is matched by few other bands around.
The London City Big Band will present timeless arrangements as performed by some of the all-time great vocalists, such as Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald. They will also focus on the music of the Swing Era, performing standard charts from the Big Band greats such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Stan Kenton, Thad Jones, Bill Holman and many more!
