Rob talks complexion, hair straighteners & cutting down trees

Yes. You read that right first time. But there was a very good reason for it.

As you are all probably more than aware, I entered myself into the “Face of Essex” contest and got shortlisted to win. Well the voting closes tomorrow (Sunday 20th Oct) and I thought I’d try to rally up a little extra support to see if I can’t just win this contest (seeing as I’m clearly the token joker).

So I asked Molly, who can be heard on Eat My Brunch with Michelle every few weeks talking female beauty, to come in and give me some advice on how to be more “beautiful” while *remaining manly. She brought in some products and talked us through what they were, as I had no idea, and also gave us a little insight into what it is that girls really like in guys (of course this is only Molly’s opinion, but given her experience I’m more than happy to take it as pretty much gospel).

*becoming

So, without further a due, here are all the “Whats”, “Huhs” & puzzled expressions (which I audibly indicate obviously) from our chin-wag…

Molly talks exfoliating, hair straighteners and beards with Rob

There you have it guys, “Be a man!!” And to help you do so while still looking the part, Molly has passed on some tip and tricks to look after your visage (that’s French for face by the way)

“When washing face before bed use a daily mild exfoliant to lift trapped hairs and loosen dead skins cells that may cause razor bumps.
This will also give a much closer shave in the morning.”

“Before shaving wash the skin with an acidic cleansing bar and rinse with warm water.”

“If skin is sensitive apply a pre-shave cream to form a protective cushion against the razor.”

“Start shaving at the sides, then, move on to the neck. Shave the chin and moustache areas until last as they have the toughest hairs that need longer under the shave medium to soften, thereby making shaving easier. Always shave with the hair growth in order to minimise ingrown
hairs and shaving rash.”

“After shaving rinse your face with cool water and gently pat the face dry with a clean towel.”

“Apply a soothing after shave balm to leave skin feeling hydrated.”

“Clean shaving equipment frequently to avoid bacterial growth and infections.”

“Change your razor blade at least once a week to maintain a sharp shave.”

Shave Tips from Sally Penfford, Education Manager The International Dermal Institute

And as for Movember talk, I’ll let you find out more about it on their website. And don’t forget that if you want some help shaping your “Mo” the good folk of Menace Grooming are going to donate £5 of every Movember shave too!!

Oh and by the way, the photo with this blog isn’t me (but then I hope that I haven’t surprised any of you with that declaration) but it was the number 1 image when I Googled “Male Beauty”… Oh how the Internet is a wonderful place.

Speaking of cutting trees, you can check an excellent review of the husqvarna 455 rancher.
