OCTOBER DOUBLES

facebook.com/GR80sRadioShow @Gr80sRadioShow

On the last show of the month I play DOUBLES! That’s two songs from each artist back-to-back.

NEWS THIS WEEK in 1986
The British government suddenly deregulates financial markets, leading to a total restructuring of the way in which they operate in the country, in an event now referred to as the Big Bang. The effect of the Big Bang led to significant changes to the structure of the financial markets in London. The changes saw many of the old firms being taken over by large banks both foreign and domestic and would lead in the following years to further changes to the regulatory environment that would eventually lead to the creation of the Financial Services Authority

Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher opens the last stretch of the M25 motorway with a ceremony in the section between J22 and J23 (London Colney and South Mimms). The section from Potters Bar to the Dartford Tunnel was constructed between 1979 and 1982
