Now the weather is warming up, guys it is now time to begin putting some serious
thought into making the official move into your spring/summer wardrobe. Love
them or hate them, nothing quite says summer than a pair of shorts. As this
is an item of clothing that can be a hit or a miss, here is a few guidelines to
go by.

Keep it simple – stick to neutrals leave bright offending colours to the seasoned
wearer.

Get the fit right – Not too tight and nothing too baggy. Length should definitely
not be too short. The finish should be just above the knee.

Bigger picture – focus on the pieces you will pair them with. They need to compliment
not clash.

Confidence – This is key to looking and feeling good!

When To Wear Shorts

As soon as the weather warms up, everyone ditches their layers and feels fine in just a t-shirt and jacket (or some variation on it). Why not just invert the look? In my eyes there’s nothing wrong with an outfit that consists of a cotton shirt, merino wool jumper/cardigan and a pair of tailored shorts. The key is, as with anything in a seasonal wardrobe, to pick the right kind of materials. Seeing as it’s only the beginning of British Summertime, why not start with some slightly beefier cottons or herringbone wools? Pair materials of similar texture with them such as Oxford cloth/flannel shirts and lightweight wools for the best effect.
