Leave it out…….

This weekend has a special feel to it for this time, as I’ve a week of lovely leave off work; well my day job. My plan was to lazy about at home and enjoy the sun….However I will be covering Drive time show on Phoenix FM next week, so its what I call a perfect plan for raining summer week of leave; positivity ay. Among the mix of music today you may still be recovering from the shocker from the 80’s. A one-hit-wonder by an Act called Q Lazarus and their track ‘Goodbye Horses….famous, or infamously used in Silence of the Lambs on the ‘Buffalo Bill’ dance scene;

"it puts the lotion in the basket' Buffalo Bill - Silence of the Lambs. I may play it again on drive...

Twofers this week, took a look at the 2011 Mercury Prize Nominees and in-particular, Elbow, who have been nominated again. So we played ‘Lippy Kids’ & ‘Neat Little Rows’, to wish the band luck.

My Comedy show picks for this week……

Edinburgh Preview Special — with Ed Byrne – 25th July 2011

Watch some of the country’s funniest comedians test out their material for the upcoming Edinburgh Fringe. Tonights acts are Ed Byrne, Joe Lycett and Jarred Christmas. The floating comedy club onboard Tattershall Castle has some lovely panoramic views of the Thames and London Eye, with four bars and food available.

An evening with Dom Joly – 27th July 2011

Spend a hilarious evening with comedian Dom Joly. This show will follow the last ten years of his life, during which he has ‘holidayed’ in Chernobyl and North Korea, and soared across the Grand Canyon on an 8-foot rocket. He will also tell the tale of how he got arrested in Switzerland while dressed as a yeti – At the Bloomsbury Theatre.

Live music pick for this week;

Thu 28 Jul

Chase and Status – Roundhouse, London

A session of drum ‘n’ bass, electronic and dubstep from the duo.

Fri 29 Jul

Ash – Chinnerys, Southend-on-Sea

Punky melodic rockers from Northern Ireland who are famous for their infectious hits ‘Girls From Mars’ and ‘Goldfinger’.
