Sunday Breakfast Show: 2 To Soothe – June & July 2019

June and July pretty much over?  How did that happen?  Well it has, and sadly for everyone, with far fewer shows from me than there should have been.  The end of July saw a very excited me do a Glastonbury special, just before heading off to the festival itself, only for me to find the only bit of mud on site, and break my ankle before the main stages of the festival had even started!  I can’t advise doing a festival on crutches in a support boot if I’m honest!  I’m on the mend and hopefully out of the cast soon.

So what did our songs for the tired, emotional and just plain hungover look like for these months?

The Cardigans – Communication

Elton John – Your Song

Lewis Capaldi – Hold Me While You Wait

Jessie Buckley – When I Reach The Place I Am Going

Nilsson – Without You

U2 – All I Want Is You

Wet Wet Wet – Don’t Let Me Be Lonely Tonight

Celeste – Lately

Elvis Presley – Can’t Help Falling In Love

David Ford – The Way The Heart Breaks

Damien Rice – The Blowers Daughter

Beth Hart & Joe Bonamassa – Lullaby Of The Leaves

The video I’ve chose for June & July is for the gorgeous Damien Rice single.  He’s not one to rush music, this was a top 40 hit back in 2001, with his debut album “O” released the following year.  It was then 4 years to the follow up “9”, and 8 until “My Favourite Faded Fantasy in 2014.  On that basis, his next album will be out in 2030.  But for now, enjoy the video
