Ryman League North: Cray Wanderers 2 Brentwood Town 3

Brentwood Town’s Sherwin Stanley scored late on to perform the perfect comeback to snatch all three points as they won 3-2 away at Cray Wanderers.

Sherwin Stanley scored his 10th league goal of the season and the all-important winner three minutes from time with a cool finish.

Cray Wanderers took an early two goal lead as Adrian Stone slotted passed Bowles for the first and a toe poke from Moses Ashkodi.

Tom Richardson grabbed a brace with three goals in two starts for Brentwood with a strike just before half-time and the equaliser with eight minutes left.

Stanley snatched the point from the hosts as he slotted the ball past the Cray keeper to continue their playoff promise.

An early strike six minutes in from Richardson stung the hands of the Cray keeper Lewis Moore.

Cray took the lead from the first real chance of the game as Chris Piper’s wriggling run not dealt with by the Brentwood defence and Adrian Stoner slotted it into the bottom corner.

From the restart the ball from a free-kick was not cleared by Cray, Stanley’s shot on the turn came off the left hand post and cleared away.

Cray doubled their lead seven minutes later as a deep cross from Nathan Simpson was not dealt with. Moses Ashikodi beat O’Rawe to the ball to poke it past Bowles.

Just before the break Brentwood got one back after a great ball wide to Rees was squared across the edge of the box for Richardson to fire his strike low and hard past the keeper.

Sam Bantick’s free-kick on the edge of the box was hammered towards goal but a fine fingertip save denied Brentwood an equaliser.

Brentwood almost equalised ten minutes into the second half as Richardson’s bursting run into the box was cut back to Bantick as his shot was superbly blocked by C J Williams.

Cray missed a great chance to extend their lead as Ashkodi beat O’Rawe to the ball and went round Bowles but his shot went wide, despite a gapping goal.

Brentwood equalised seven minutes from time as a long ball was headed to Stanley by Richardson and cut back across goal by Stanley to Richardson to fire in from close range.

‘The Blues’ went in front three minutes from time as Bantick slotted in Stanley who clinically finished past the keeper, to sweep the three points from Cray.
