Old Red Wall Club are a group of 25 twenty-five year olds who come together each year to fundraise. In previous years they have supported Help for Heroes, The Anthony Nolan Trust, St Francis Hospice but this year they are supporting SNAP. SNAP (Special Needs And Parents) is a registered charity that helps Essex families who have children and young people with special needs and disabilities.
In July Joshua and the boys will be entertaining ‘Silly Week’. During this week they are running 5 marathons in 5 days around Essex. Joshua is creating the routes and hopse to go through lots of towns throughout Essex all finishing in Brentwood High Street (the hometown of SNAP). They have chosen to take this on because it seems that you have to do something extraordinary to inspire others in the current climate. Joshua has never run a marathon but training began months ago and hes raring to go. The toughest part for Joshua is fitting training and organisation around work because hes in the Royal Navy and tend to be in different areas of the country. Each day one other member of the ORWC will run a marathon with him. On the Thursday of ‘Silly Week’ the boys will be completing a 24hr cycle on a static bike ride in Brentwood High Street which is to be completed around the same time as I finish my final marathon. We hope to create a festival atmosphere at the finish line, in an attempt to create a community spirit in support of SNAP.
