This week we talk about sun safety and how to protect our skin and eyes. Around 90% of premature skin ageing is caused by sun exposure, not by ageing alone. Some practical sun safety tips that are especially relevant in midlife:
- Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30, even in the UK.
- Apply it 15 minutes before going out, and reapply every two hours—or immediately after sweating or swimming.
- Cover up with light clothing and a hat—yes, even in the garden!
- Check your skin regularly for any new or changing moles or marks, and speak to your GP if anything looks suspicious.
Great music from Janet Jackson, Wham!, Corey Hart, The Scissor Sisters, En Vogue and Alanis Morissette. This week’s Album Vault revisits the release of Starships ‘No Protection’ back on 6 July 1987.
