Suspension secrets: how motorsport-inspired shock absorbers improve road safety

The world of Formula 1 is not only about breakneck speeds and great victories, but also about the continuous development of technologies that are later used in everyday cars. According to an expert from AUTODOC: ‘If you have a broken or worn shock absorber, you may hear a clunking, banging, or rattling sound, particularly when driving over bumps, potholes, or rough terrain. You might hear a thumping noise from the wheel well where the shock is located if the part is broken or loose. This is usually accompanied by increased vibrations and bouncing when driving on rough roads.’

Identifying and fixing suspension problems in good time is important for your safety. Each manufacturer sets a recommended service life for suspension components based on thorough tests and calculations. Adherence to this period ensures optimal system performance and minimises the risk of unexpected breakdowns.

When choosing shock absorbers, you should give preference to original components or high-quality analogues from trusted manufacturers – for example, shock absorbers for BMW, created with specific model parameters in mind, ensure an exact fit and durability. The use of cheap, low-quality analogues can lead to rapid wear, reduced efficiency and even dangerous situations on the road.
