This week in addition to celebrating the official start of summer we discussed what Motor Neuron Disease is and its effects.
In the UK, around 5,000 people are living with MND at any one time. That might sound small, but this is a disease with a huge impact:
- Every day, 6 people are diagnosed, and
- Sadly, every day 6 people die from it.
Globally, the picture is equally serious, with over 200,000 people affected at any given time. Most people die within two to five years of diagnosis. Yet, while there is no cure, much can be done to improve quality of life through specialist care and support.
In addition to all the regular features of the show I introduced a new one too- The Album Vault: where I revisit albums released on this day. Of course lots of music to get you in the summer mood as well!
