June 2nd-8th was National Volunteers Week here in the UK. Launched in 1984, this initiative has been running for over 40 years, providing organisations and communities a platform to thank current and past volunteers for their invaluable efforts.
It’s always an important week for us here at Phoenix FM as we rely on so many volunteers to keep our service running.
It’s important for many of the organisations we work with all year round too. Last week, we welcomed in Saint Francis Hospice’s Volunteer Project Manager Vicky Miles-Gale to talk about it.
With over 650 volunteers, the hospice rely on volunteers for many vital roles including retail e-commerce, van driving, admin, clinical, ward roles, gardening and many more.
Vicky is always on the lookout for more – she told our Drive host, Jo Bailey, “Tell us what you can do and we’ll find a role for you”.
You can hear Vicky again at phoenixfm.com and contact Saint Francis Hospice at sfh.org.uk.
Now to look forward to National Paul Day. July 13th, in case you were wondering …
