Rammstein frontman, Till Lindemann has released a music video for new single ‘Und Die Engel Singen.’ To be released on the 8th August, ‘Und Die Engel Singen’ (And The Angel Sings), is as is typical Till Lindemann’s piece accompanied by a completely not suitable for work music video. Lindemann has an odd position, where his voice is so recognisable as Rammstein, that his own solo music can sometimes just sound like a Rammstein track. And so it is with ‘Und Die Engel Singen.’ The track is excellent, part industrial, part electronica and pop; a thudding rhythm is accompanied by Till’s unmistakable baritone, while then giving way to soring melodies. All good stuff. But then we come to the video…
For those who are not familiar with Lindemann’s work, I must issue an extreme trigger warning. The video depicts voyeurism, death and domestic violence. It is also very surreal, and knowing Till’s direction with his art, is likely all in the head of our protagonist. The video also depicts lots of surrealism and imagery and is somewhat of an homage to the late David Lynch – the video has a dedication to Lynch at the end. I am a huge Rammstein fan and to a lesser extent, Lindemann’s solo material. And though I am not against violence in art, as long as there is a point or message to it, I’m afraid here it’s just more of what we have seen (many times) before from Till.
For obvious reasons, I’m not linking to the video, but its easy to find if you want to.
